I was in Gregg's Bellevue this week and spotted a whole rack of closeout cold-weather Nike bicycling gear.

- Goretex rain/wind shells, regular retail $199, for $99
- 100% wool long-sleeve jerseys, regular retail $99, for $39.99.

(did I read somewhere Nike was closing down their cycling apparel division?).

I wore mine on the commute yesterday and on a (snowy) ride today. Nice stuff.

Wow, that's a good price...time to suggest some presents to the spouses, eh?

Thanks BengeBoy!

Well, I did think twice about it -- but I figured East Hill would protect me.

I have relatives in West Linn, by the way; say "hi" when you ride by.

This is not at all true, his situation is entirely different than yours. He has established a relationship on this board through 30+ posts. His first post here wasn't advertising a product that doesn't sponsor this site. Relax and look at it from the other side of the fence...besides, the grass is greener over here.

Back to the OP, do you remember what else they had on sale? I'm looking for some Goretex pants, any around there?

Also, where is Gregg's? I'm going to buy my wife a present at the Coach store tomorrow (not sure the name of the mall/shopping center) and if it's near there I'll stop by and see what they have.

Gregg's is on Bellevue Way in beautiful downtown Bellevue. It's on the West side of the street, just north of Old Main Street, about 3 blocks south of Bellevue Square.

I don't remember what else was on sale...just the rack of Nike Goretex jackets and next to it some Nike wool jerseys. I don't remember any Goretex pants. There was some other sale merchandise but it was the Nike stuff that jumped out to me.

I just got directions to it from the place I'll be at. It's only about 10 miles and that's nothing compared to where I'm coming from. Is the Bellevue location the best of the three Gregg's stores?

You are only trying to entice me to head over to Elliot Bay Cycles, Classic Cycles, and Il Vecchio! Bad BengeBoy!

The wool jerseys, though, I think I will have to check out :p .

No! No more bashing! I've made my decision, and there's to be no more bashing here  .

If you show up at the NAHBS, though, I'll offer a hug :p .

Is the NAHBS the handbuilt bike show in Portland?

Luckily, I had already planned to be in Portland for a wedding. Already warned the wife and family I need to slip away during the weekend to attend the show.

Caution on the wool jerseys at Gregg's -- when I was there to pick up my second jersey, they were down to only about a dozen or so. Don't know how long they will last. Might be worth calling, first.

They had *lots* of the GoreTex jackets, though.

Yes, it is! You are full of foresight to have warned everyone that you may do some 'sightseeing'. Check the thread in C & V. There looks to be quite a few of us going.

Gregg's is on Bellevue Way in beautiful downtown Bellevue.
It WILL be quite beautiful when all the highrises presently under construction are completed. The entire downtown is covered by tower cranes, and driving around the city streets is a car equivalent of a giant slalom. Except instead of pretty little red and blue flags, you get to drive in between lane closures, traffic cones, and dump trucks.
