A few years back I was really, really into jewelry and design. I have a few friends who are designers and gemologists. I've spent many many hours learning and I had actually SERIOUSLY considered going to school and making this my profession.

It's easy to get drawn into the beauty of gems, and learning about the differing characteristics each gift from Earth holds.

Because of my exposure to such, I often get called to join in special "invite only" presentations, allowing opportunities to obtain some of the newest and best quality jewelry and loose stones at introductory prices.

I went to a show, where I was able to experience the difference between real and imitation Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

The prices for authentic Tiffany are outrageous - if anyone has ever priced them. Yet there they were, right in front of me, calling me to purchase them at the introductory price.

I looked around me and this one lady had about 12 pieces she was going to purchase. Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. You can feel the excitement over these new and beautiful designs.

I had two pieces in my hand. Despite my financial obligations, my hands were shaking. I REALLY liked these pieces. This is my one and only chance to get these new styles for this price.

Then it hit me.

For this money, I can get Dura Ace and a really nice wheelset. I put it down, without hesitation.

Yeah. *nods head* I know my priorities. :D

Excellent willpower. However I'd hate to see you at a bike show.

Plus whats the resale value of jewelry like?

In regards to loose stones? Way more than components.

The value in stones goes up due the the depletion of the natural resources. A lot of the material is wasted in the harvesting of the stone. You can get a top grade pink sapphire that is clean and has good natural unheated color and what you yield is about a third of what you originally have harvested as an uncut specimen.

The metals value depends upon what it is worth on a daily basis. It fluctuates per ounce.

You're looking at DuraAce and I'm looking at a Nomad with the X9 AM build, what is the world coming to? I'm glad you're back, Siu.
