I found this CL post (http://salem.craigslist.org/bik/496060329.html) this morning. He wants $75 for the frame, forks, and bars (paint my bars?) which includes cleaning and blasting. I thought it sounded pretty reasonable, and I might take him up on it later this season as he called it a "winter" special. I don't know what he wants regularly.

If anyone wants their frame repainted, this could help.

That is a good deal. I just had mine powder coated and was quoted $125 but he done it for free since we're neighbors ;)

You definitely have this guy beat then. :D

I emailed the guy about his regular prices and he said it is usually $75 for the frame only, without the extras. I don't know what he meant exactly by extras. Maybe he meant the fork and the bars, but maybe he also meant the cleaning and blasting which would be a bummer...though still, stripping the bike can be done at home.

I'm tempted...

I might just buy a new old bike just to have it repainted.

Plenty of places in Portland that will powdercoat frame and fork for $75 (single color). I just had mine fixie project done.

Be careful with powder coating not all types are waterproof. Both a very good painter and forme builder for Fat Chance and Yeti have told me that water leaks through pores in the powder coat, rusts the frame and the coaitng flakes off. This can be prevented by clear coating the powder coat with a good quality cear coat (ie: Imron etc.) Have you ever wondered why bike mfrs use paint and not clear coat?
