Fifty Plus (50+) - New Area. New Group

About 6 weeks ago, my wife and I moved from the Quincy, CA in the Sierras to Lincoln, CA in the foothills. I have hooked up with the local 55+ bike club and these guys are riding me into carbon fiber dust. I assume I will get better, but right now I have to really work to keep up. On the hills? Fugetabout it. Our rides are 45-70 miles and 2500 - 5500 feet of climbing, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I don't have any great pictures, but here are a few to give you an idea.

This is the Foresthill Bridge, the highest bridge in California, even higher than the Golden Gate. It's a 3.5 mile climb to get up there.

This is Folsom Lake, a resevoir. All that green you see? It should be water.

This is a typical road for us. There is usually a good shoulder and minimal traffic.

Looks like a great new place to be riding. I've always been impressed with the posts you've made describing your rides. I wonder if the new club is pushing a little bit harder, because there's a new guy in town?

The pictures span about three weeks. Only the final one (climbing the hill) are from last weekend, a 70-miler with 5500 feet of climbing. The Quincy area tends to have longer climbs. The difference here is the pace this group maintains. In Quincy, we usually rode at a "social pace" or I rode alone, not pushing myself.

Floyd and Beverly, this is for you. This is looking down off the Foresthill Bridge. You really don't get a very good feel for how far down it is. Trust me, it's a looooong way.
