Someone told me that flatland bike shouldn't have just only the rear brake. Is that true? do you guys have any pictures of any famous riders riding just rear brake only?

In my experience....

BMX racing used a stripped bike... no front brake, only rear.
Flatland used a front and rear.

Theres plenty of people with two brakes, no brakes, or just front brakes. I have never seen anyone (legitimately) flatlanding with only rear brakes.

How about these pictures, are these flatland bike?

and do you guys know what kind of bike this guy doing tricks on is?

And what is the reason shouldn't use just the rear brake?

As was mentioned earlier, it's all about preferences and style. Some riders want a front brake for additional control over the front wheel, and some find it unnecessary.

you can use a rear brake only setup, but that's more for street. when i do flatland, i only use my front brake, so i took the back one off. i like doing footjams to hop with the back wheel. it looks cooler, and is easier in my opinion.

the bikes you posted look like street bikes to me.
the guy you posted is doing flat tricks(?) on what looks like a street bike too (to me).

when i think flatland bike i think short top tube, short stem, 4 pegs, high seat, and any combination or brakes or brakeless.

That and some flatland bikes have zero-offset forks.

basically it does not matter what your setup is. you ride how you want. there is no need to be liek everyone else. you dont need to be copying some otehr guys bike. ride what you want how you want. whatever works the best for you basically. i personally use both brakes and 4 pegs for flatland. thats jsut me though

The picture came from above in this thread, I recognize the frame by the gusset in the front of the main frame but cannot recall the name.

Umm.. DirtBIKE. You know as in S&M Dirtbike. Was in their line up probably since the late 80's until just a year or 2 ago.
The one in the pic is most likey a Next Gen DirtBike. Which, by the way is not a flatland bike.
For flatland, like everyone else has said, the common set-up is a bike w/ a short front & rear. Quick headtube angle and 4pegs. Brakes range from front & rear to front only or no brakes.
But really, ride what you want to ride & what works best for you.
