Commuting - trailer for commuting

Hi,

do you use single wheelers (like BoB, Monoporter, Wilderbeast, Yakima) for commuting and what are your pros and cons?

I don't. I can't see any pros in using a trailer for commuting. A single pannier or a backpack is more than enough for most people and the a trailer would be too heavy and cumbersome at the bike parking at work.

For grocery shopping, then a trailer makes a lot of sense. Many use it. I don't... only because I don't have one!

Only if you are a tradesman such as a plumber who needs to carry the kitchen sink.
Most commuters carry all they need (complete change of clothes + shoes etc) in a single large pannier or a couple of small ones. With 2 large panniers you can carry a substantial shopping load.

I use a two-wheeled trailer for grocery shopping (well shopping full stop to be more exact) but a small pannier for commuting.

I´ve sold the car some years ago and combine the ride to work with a shopping trip. I´ve tried a two wheeled trailer, which was way to big for the stuff I´m transporting and finally I´m using a YAK. With some modifications I´m happy with the trailer now and I`m just curious if s.o. else is doing it the same way and has some new experiences.
BTW, parking a bike & trailer combo saves a lot of space compared to a SUV.

I towed a Burley d'lite trailer for two years of commuting. I logged well over 8,000 miles and sure it was heavy, but it allowed me to run many more errands on my way home than I could with panniers.

i use a yak for commuting, specifically when i have soemthing to do with it.. otherwise it's just plain ol me.. or if i am "commuting" a couple hundred miles... i guess some people call this touring.. but it's more transportation to me than a proper 'tour'.

you know, as much as i see you around the net, it makes me wonder if you have a chance to get out and ride ever... ;)

don´t worry. I´ll get around a lot in the real world. The net is just part of my job. Nice to see old yak-people arround. My Yak gets a new tire tomorrow. I was just looking for new ideas, in the moment I´m working on a mobile workshop: single wheel trailer with work stand, tool box and truing stand. Unfortunately the standard BoB (or similar) fork is not the perfect thing. Bur again: don´t worry - I´ll have another sleepless night, maybe some french or Oregon red wine....
Ready for transport it looks a little like a howitzer. Probably I´ll paint it in a non camouflage colour, just in case some strange people don´t recognise me.

BTW, I don´t have a TV
