Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - While we're talking about Searching...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It would appear that there is no syntax for searching for a specific phrase? It would appear that this:
Swift +Shift is equivalent to "Swift Shift", i.e., it returns all messages that contain both the works "Swift" and "Shift" which, if looking for a specific phrase, isn't so useful. Not even sure how I know about the "+" operator since I don't see it mentioned anywhere... must have picked it up from a similar forum system.
So is there a secret handshake that will allow me to do this?

Secret handshake:

Go to Google and type in:

site:bikeforums.net

Add your search terms: "Swift Shift"

= site:bikeforums.net "Swift Shift"

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=HPIC%2CHPIC%3A2006-46%2CHPIC%3Aen&q=site%3Abikeforums.net+%22Swift+Shift%22

Here are your results.

Hmmm, the "outside of the box" approach. Works for me. Thanks! Still though, the internal search engine should be able to do this as well.

The internal search engine is much more limited. It's good for a quick search if you can remember the member name and forum, but not very useful for short words and multiple word phrases...

Anyway, I hope this helps, and it works even when the search function isn't working properly :) .

And you haven't been visiting us in BMX. I bet you didn't even notice my new frame.

For shame.

I know, I've been a bum...:o .

As I told Tom, I have been working on a project...but that is no excuse for my neglecting important parts of my daily rounds.

Consider me chastised, and I resolve to do better in the future :) .

Well, if you guys forgive me, that is ;) .
