i'm in my mid-thirties and come from berlin, germany. since my youth i was interested in roadbikes. my mates and i always dreamed of all the cinellis, de rosas and pinarellos we saw at the tour de france but only managed to buy the entry line bikes of raleigh, peugeot and motobecane.
since a few months i'm the proud owner of a vitus 979. i bought the frame via ebay and added some components i already had. now it hangs at the wall behind me with a mix of older campy athena and dura ace parts and looks very early 90ties.
i checked this forum for information about the 979 because i was aware of the fatal frame failure talk. hope it won't happen to me but i have to admit i'm not the heaviest and only a hobby rider.
in case anybody has further informations about the 979 (web sites, books, images, etc.) please let me know.
