Fifty Plus (50+) - moving to montana soon ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ok, that's a Frank Zappa lyric about raising dental floss.
So I saw a Discovery Science show yesterday and became enamored. I'm thinking it would be a nice retirement career to move to Costa Rica and build bikes out of bamboo and hemp.
I'll just leave that one out there for now.

I'd stay away from Montana. I hear they have a problem with weasels ripping your flesh.

After having done a bike tour through Montana this summer... not sure it's the place I would retire. Too many rednecks, large vehicles going way to fast and roads with no shoulders (but they all have rumblestrips!) and people who don't like cyclist... just saying...

I live in Bozeman, and there are few rednecks. I moved here from California and there is nothing but friendly open arms.
While I love the nature, open spaces and Yellowtone Park, I gotta say, the cycling season is too darn short, and there are far two few paved secondary roads. But I also love winter, and the full 4 seasons.
All in all its a beatiful place. Darn hard to make a living though.

This last summer, on my way to Montana I stopped at a friends house located in Island Park, Idaho. It's right at the west gate of Yellowstone. Now that was a beautiful place to live and riding through Yellowstone was just awesome. But my friend admits once it starts to get cold he's out of there. Winters up North are brutal! He's lucky enough to also have a lovely home here in Mission Viejo (CA). I do like Idaho alot. Might be a good alternative for me to consider for retirement.

Well, I got another one in on post #5, so there!:p
Besides, the pictures are priceless. I couldn't help myself!
On a more serious note, the Zappa/Mothers stuff was a hoot, but by the same token Frank was an extremely talented artist, much underappreciated.

Pshaw - I have a F900 Cannondale I will have you know!
LMAO - how do you old farts remember all those lyrics? For me, the '60's (and much of the '70's) is kind of a blur.
Damn...now I'm going to have to go out and buy that CD. Wonder if it will sound as good when I'm not stoned?

The evil corrupter of youth suggesting that he roll up a sweaty gym sock in a college diploma and smoke it. (dummy up)
edit: oops! That should be a gym sock stuffed in a high school diploma. The college degree is stuffed with absolutely nothing. You get nothing with your college degree.

Once, a college roommate and I started exchanging Zappa lyrics at a party and it went on until the next afternoon. :D

Now THAT movie is in our video library! One of my favorites: Hunt for Red October. We just watched all three in that series. Still like Alec Baldwin better than Harrison Ford as Jack. But Harrison Ford is pretty wonderful, too.

Last time I saw Frank was on Dec 8, 1980 in Santa Barbara at the Arlington Theater. I was celebrating my 27th birthday. He was his usual snide self for the first half of the concert. After the break he was professional but subdued. I have to assume he knew about John Lennon's murder.
Hard to believe it was 27 years ago. Half my life!
