hello out there in electronic bike land, greetings from south georiga! yes the armpit of the country proves useful in fulfilling my addiction for heavy all terrain stompin. i do not drive or own a car and try to stay out of them as much as possible so my riding tends to be an aggressive cross style. with nothing but my trek 4500 i go about my days strictly on bike. i am a full time outdoor recreation student at georgia southern university in statesboro. its a ****ty town, you know that song statesboro blues....yea it sucks here. its put together very backwards and the infrastructure is 10 years old and 20,000 people behind and bicyclists have no safety commuting around town. my days are spent riding with the craziest of crazy drivers on small town roads so recently i have begun using the university bike shop that i volunteer at as a medium for change...hopefully; keep an eye out for the statesboro pedestrian and cyclist alliance! :rolleyes:anyway thats me.... i really dig the site and appreciate the quality comments left on here, ive read so many and finally i decided it was time to join your awesome organization! i agree with what your doing and i support any group that promotes cycling in a non profit manor! keep up the awesome work!

Hi bonaterra, you are brave! I have read quite a few comments from people down your way that cycling is a real adventure. Good luck with your push for change. Oh, perhaps you could come visit the Living Car Free and Utility Cycling forums, and share some of your experience?

Welcome to BF.

Sounds like you need a large stack of these bumper stickers
http://www.atlantabike.org/images/bumper-sticker.JPG

and these pocket cards
http://www.atlantabike.org/Pocket_Card_1.png
http://www.atlantabike.org/Pocket_Card_2.png
They are paid for by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
Contact the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign (http://www.atlantabike.org) and they'll mail you a stack (like 50 or 100 or maybe more) -- free.
They should help spread the "Share the Road" message down your way.
Good luck and stay safe.

Those are great, Ron!

Do you keep stacks of those in the shop to spread the word?

We try but they go like hot cakes. Luckily the ABC office is only 2 blocks from the shop so it's easy to get more. :)

I like the fact that the cards mention that 'Bicycles are considered vehicles in George, as in every other state'...
