I'm usually the first person up in the morning and start my day by going and cuddling my daughters into wakefulness... after that I have my coffee and get geared up for the commute and they always have power kisses for me when I am leaving since they know those kisses are the source of a dad's power.

That morning ride is always pretty nice no matter what the weather is like and any time on the bike is time well spent... the same goes for the ride home which is usually even better since it is less rushed.

After dinner the girls and I usually cuddle and play, have some chai, and do some reading before it's time for bed... sometimes they just have to sneak upstairs for an extra hug and who can be upset with that ?

The time I spend volunteering at the bike shop is also precious as besides the bikes, tools, parts, and smell of grease, there are some pretty wonderful people who hang out there and it's really those people that make it such a wonderful place. My best friends can be found there.

Foo makes my day... you are a wild, wonderful, and remarkable bunch of people.

And there's one more thing I need to add to my list...

Once the butterflies have been herded and I'm all set for tomorrow I look forward to that time when I can hear her voice on the phone and spend some "not being together time" with someone I find that I truly adore.

So... what makes your day ?

8 hours of sleep! Lunch with my wife. A good bike ride. Wood heat. Diesel tractors.

Glenn - I can see why having lunch with your wide would make your day...she sounds wonderful.

I'm gonna go and get 6 hours of sleep... I had a nice nap this afternoon and would have to add those to my list too.

Naps are good.

A walk or a bike ride on one of those crisp fall days, or a serene, peaceful night.

A light rain.

A good nap.

Just the right music.

Spending virtual time with friends, and knowing that they're happy.

Seeing my son learn something new (he's 16 months and so proud of himself).
a dog's wagging tail (I don't have a dog, don't have time to look after it properly but I love dogs)
doing something where I lose track of time
being in a silly mood with my wife

the noise my son made just now, it's 7.30am and he's just waking up, I'd better go.

edit: and hearing a song I like on the radio, somehow it sounds better when you hear it on the radio.

Fun time with my family after work makes my day. Night before last, we all piled into my oldest son's room and played Battleship. He and my wife against my three year old and me. It was awesome.

BTW, the wife and older son team sank more ships than the dad and lad combo. I was giving them so clues though, as we were trying to teach Wade how to play.

When my daughters tell me they love me out of the blue.
When I meet a new cycling goal.
When my wife wants to get busy. ;)
And an easy day at work - like the past couple of days.

ha ha, I concur. That's why I usually don't eat anything until after I finish my 1st cup of coffee. The caffeine buzz is so much more pure that way.

On another note, I was feverishly searching for enough coinage (60 cents) for a bag of M&Ms from the vending machine but was a lousy nickel short. While searching I unearthed a Clif bar stashed away in my in my laptop bag --- that made my day.

Friends are truly wonderful.

But I just had a Deep thought with Jack Handy moment.

If girls have girlfriends why does it sound so weird for me to have dinner with my "guyfriends"?

Weird and silly at the same time:)

The rare occasion that I get to catch my wife being wrong about something!

The rare occasion that I get through a day at work without one or more of my employees complaining about some juvenile problem, and/or each other.

A bike ride out in the country.
