Bicycle Mechanics - Trek 930 Frame Question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have converted a Trek 930 SHX over to a street warrior/commuting bike [street tires, carrier, new seat, etc.] After reading the forum for a few weeks I am curious as to how the frame on the 930 compares to some of the new frames on the market. The bike I have was manufactured around 1995 or so.
Thanks for the input.

The Trek 930 id memory serves me correct is a double butted True Temper OXII frame. It is real nice steel and should serve that purpose very nicely. As far as how it compares well it sould outlast most XC alu. frames made today.

My 98 Trek 930 is the OXII chrome moly. It is a great riding frame and should be considerably more comfortable on the road than current al. frames, albeit not quite as lite as an al. frame.

Im not sure you can buy a high-quality, production, ridgid MTB with rack and fender fittings these days. You probably have to go to some small workshop like

to get a modern equivelent.
