So, does anyone think the utility trikes sold by walmart are a good value?
On the Walmart website there are 5 different utility tricycles for sale (which is quite a selection if you ask me):
-An aluminum single speed w/ 26" wheels for ~$250.
-A steel single speed folder w/ 20" wheels for ~$270.
-A steel internally hubbed three speed folder w/ 20" wheels for ~$380.
-A steel pedelec w/ 24" wheels and Currie motor for ~$800.
-A steel folding pedelec w/ 20" wheels for ~$900.
Before I hear bellyaching about exploitation of chinese slave labor, note that all the 20" folders are manufactured in the NY, NY, USA by none other than Worksman.
The best part is that shipping to your local Walmart is free, which is a spectacular deal as you'd probably pay as much in shipping as you would for product if you bought a heavy work bike like one of these from anywhere else. Of course, there is no Walmart in NYC, but in that case you can just stop by the Worksman showroom and pick one out in person.
Does anyone have any opinions or comments on these trikes?

IF they are the standard Worksman models they should be fine. I have seen th Worksman single speed folder at WM, other than the fact it was not put together properly it appeared to be a normal Worksman Port o Trike (http://www.worksman.com/portotrikeweb.htm). Not sure how the WM prices fare against ordering direct (I know no shipping to a WM) But I would rather spend $50 more than give the money to WM.

The trikes are Worksmans light duty trikes that are (believe or not)
are really made in New York, NY !!!! These trikes will do for most
uses if the duty is light.
If you would rather buy direct from Worksman then (at Worksman's
recommendation) find a business to drop ship the trike to due
to "home delivery" costing 3x more!

Ok, now that I've said it for everyone who usually says all that when they here the "W" word, it sounds like a good deal on what looks to be a good bike. If it was me, I would post a want ad for a trike on craigslist first and see what happens. I never see anything I want on there, but if I post a want ad in the bike section, I am sure to get multiple emails about whatever I am wanting to buy. good luck, and keep us updated.

I noticed Wal-Mart had what looked just like the Schwinn Town & Country trike, but in a SS version. My neighbor has one, and while I have never seen him actually carry anything with the gigantic basket it comes with, it seems fine. There doesn't seem to be a lot that could go wrong on a trike like that.
Edit: Ah, that's probably the aluminum 26" you mentioned

Glad to. When I bought my Worksman PAV trike the sales person at Worksman
suggested that since all Worksman cycles are sent fully assembled it might be
cheaper to drop ship to a business rather than use home delivery which can
be VERY expensive.
I asked a local car dealer to accept delivery and he agreed. Drop shipping to
the business (all Worksman cycles are shipped freight prepaid) dropped my
shipping cost from about $600 to $250!! Now remember all cycles are fully
assembled so UPS or USPS won't deliver them. Semi-truck freight only.
A semi truck delivery to your home is very expensive and you still get
to unload it!
The truck dropped the PAV off at the dealer, the dealer called me, I picked
it up , uncrated at home and rode it for the first time.......right outta the box!

According to the Worksman website the folding trikes are shippable via UPS. Years ago I used to use the corner bar that I frequented as a business address for shipping stuff to save a few bucks.:D

They probably aren't assembled. If you order from Walmart it won't be assembled either and home delivery is $60 (store pickup free).
How do you get stuff shipped at business rates? I would gladly accept deliveries while at work to save a few bucks.

I actually have two commercial accounts with Fedup and OOps via my work and my wife's shop. However if you order something and have it sent to your place of business with a c/o or attn; you will usually get the business rates vs the residential rates. When you place the order make sure to tell the person taking the order that it is a business.

If you're really serious about a Worksman then I strongly recommend that you call them to
arrange for both your order and delivery. They are really good folk's who will work with
you to get you what you want exactly as well as help you save shipping cost.
If the person you get on the phone doesn't satisfy you ask for Wayne Sosen who is president
of Worksman and a heck of a guy.
This web site will allow you to shop for a trike built "your way". I still recommend a call to
order tho.

I must be blind because the only trike I see is one made by "Schwinn."
