for crappy drivers. In the last week I can't count the number of times that I've almost been hit by drivers and I almost rear ended a couple cars due to idiot drivers in front of them.
What is it that brings this out, the season? The sun heading south for the Winter?

People are frenzied. This is why I'm not jonesing to do night rides this month. Too scary. No one is paying attention, everyone is rushing to get places, and two many libations are flowing freely before drivers get behind steering wheels.
I hate Christmas.

I'm thinking about doing a Pasadena night ride to see the Chistmas lights, I take it you aren't interested?

I've taken to yelling at people... a lot.
Two days ago a young woman almost took me out in a roundabout while looking directly at me (or through me), all the while I was screaming at her to stop.

Not unless you do it on the 27th. I'll ride it then. But any day before, I'd be petrified of riding through Pasadena at night (especially where there are lights that may draw crowds).
I was reading the latest issue of Bicycling Magazine and they have an entire article on cyclists who have been crippled or killed by cars. It is always a risk to ride, but why put yourself right in the thick of it at a time people are most distracted?
But that's just me...

Look it, Clint, just cause you chew bark for nourishment and build your own bikes, doesn't mean the rest of us can't enjoy an informative publication.:p

Perhaps, but you're still an amateur. Ride with me on the bike path and be in awe. ;):D:lol:

No, you don't yell, dear. You frighten preganant women into giving birth early, cause flocks of seagulls to change migration patterns mid-air and incite waves of panic and chaos along the boardwalk.

Yep, during my commute home last week, I was going 30 mph down Foothill in La Canada, keeping with the speed of traffic but still just out of the door zone mind you, when I noticed the bumper of this black SUV inches from my hip. When I looked over, he gave a honk! I put my hand up to gesture "what's the problem?" but he wouldn't even roll his window down. What a wussy.
I think I need a helmet cam with 2 angles. One in front of me and one behind me.

Not sure if I'll have time, but how about a night ride through Sierra Madre? See all the pretty lights :D
Remember when drivers used turn signals? Why don't drivers use them anymore? Yes, this is a rhetorical question.

Yeah....that really annoys me...driving or riding I get annoyed....

Eh, be honest. How often do you signal while riding? Just sayin'

Good point, urbanknight. Signaling on the bike is something I do not do often. How about you? Anybody else? While driving, I do signal although I feel like I am in the minority.

I try to signal, if I'm making a left and there are cars around I usually do, or if I'm coming up to an intersection and a car is waiting for me I'll usually signal if I'm turning right.

I'll admit it, I only signal when I find it useful on the bike. If there is a car behind me or coming the other way through an intersection, I'll signal just so they know what to expect. Aside from that, I don't bother.
I always signal while driving, though. Even if nobody is around.

Years ago we discovered the fact that drivers are a lot worse around Christmas. Now that people routinely drive above 80mph it is even worse.
Once, on a group ride near a tree lot, one of our riders fell in the road, and before he could get up, a jerk in a Cherokee with a tree on top and 2 kids in the back shouted "Get the f*** out of the road". Yeah, good will toward you, psycho.
Pick your routes carefully and pay extra attention during the next few weeks, they are out there on the phone and stressed out and maybe drunk and maybe just suicidal.

Please tell me the group of riders then surrounded the car and started rocking it side to side.
I'm glad I go on vacation in another week. I'll wait until rush hour is over and get my riding done before people start getting off work.

No, we weren't blocking him, and after his shouting, he sped off, probably secure in his manliness and feeling good that he had shown his children how to treat others.

I almost always signal when riding, and do always signal when driving. I signal when riding when there is a car behind me and sometimes when there are no cars, but just out of habit. I've noticed many of you BFers do signal when out riding because I've been behind you.

Well, some riders signal in group rides to make sure the rider in back doesn't come up and cross wheels. I've seen that almost happen a few times on SFVBC rides where the two routes split off and someone on the right is going straight while the guy on the left is turning right.
