Did anybody else watch this Sci-Fi mini-series? What did you think?

I thought it was "ok"....about typical of most sci-fi movies. They are usually "OK", but never "spectacular" (but not "sucky" either).

I was enjoying it all along, the buildup was nice, but the ending sort of fizzled to me. It was not as big an ending as I was expecting. It ended up being a little too small of an ending for a 6-hour story.

Anybody else feel the same? Disagree? Have a clue what I'm even talking about?

Secondly, I was thrown off by the title "Tin Man". I assumed with that title that the "Tin Man" character would some how end up being a much bigger character in the end. Maybe some big thing revealed about his character or something. Nothing like that ever happened....so why was it named "Tin Man"?

I have seen the title and wondered if it was based off the book of the same name by Dale Brown.

I have read the book but have not watched the show, so I cannot answer my question.

No. I don't know that book, but its a Wizard of Oz movie. In some ways it seems to be another interpretation of the original, in other ways, it seems to be a new story.

Overall, though, I think it was meant to be another interpretation as it came up with "based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum" during movie credits.

Read the book if you like techno thriller/military type stuff. Along the lines of Tom Clancy, but more about technological advances. All of Brown's stuff is pretty good.

Hmmmm.....doesn't sound like the kind of stuff I like. I'm not into techno/military....I like elves and wizards in my stories.....or maybe spaceships and time travel.

I refuse to support anything the Sci-Fi channel does until they demonstrate a reliable record of NOT cancelling the quality shows and keeping the crap shows/movies... even if they occassionally produce something of quality.

Bonnie Hunt at SF HQ can suck it!

This is kind of spacey. Guy develops an exo skeleton type suit that allows him to become a one man army. Takes out bad guys.

Sounds like the Iron Man comic books (which they are making a movie of, starring Robert Downey Jr.).

If it's not BSG, it's crap.

No its not......it's really a completely different movie. It's "loosely" the same theme, but a complete and utterly different movie.

And that attitude goes back to my "why do people think everything old is better" thread. Remakes can be better....originals aren't necessarily the best. :p

It was interesting, but absolutely nowhere near the quality or creative level of BSG, Farscape or even the earlier Sliders. We're being spoon-fed new, mediocre ideas; it seems like the SciFi channel is kind of a ghost hunters channel now...

Yeah....early Sliders was a great show.

I'm totally with you on the Ghost Hunters channel......it used to be the Stargate channel.

Either way....the movie questions wasn't meant to be a reflection/opinion about Sci-Fi channel (couldn't give a ratz *** about the Sci-Fi channel)...I only mentioned it because they made the movie. Typically I'm not a big Sci-Fi movie channel fan. It's great in theory, but usually sucks in reality.

Please, then re-write the Brandenburg concerto, repaint the Mona lisa and re engineer the Eiffel Tower:)

To me it's all about original idea.

i thought it was decent except for the stoned emotionless acting of zooey deschanel..sheesh..can the girl emote ANY kinda feeling at all?

Kathleen Robertson in a corset is HAWT! Then again..I've been crushin' on her since her days as a redhead on 90210..

I do wonder why the hell they called this series TIN MAN even tho he seemed like he played more of a supporting role..

Annoying they called Oz the O.Z. trying to make it more contemporary like the O.C...

The ending really let me down..I was hoping for a full on battle royale with the wicked witch and the reunited azkadellia & d.g. (you knew she was gonna revert back to good...)..but wtf was that? total disappointment for a couple of sisters that were supposedly powerful in magic..

btw..did i mention Kathleen Robertson is HOT?

on a side note.. BSG rocks!!! Can't wait 'til march...So say we all!!! (and yes..the new BSG is WAY better than the original!)

The old Dr. Whos are barely tolerable, even for geeks. The new Dr. Who is atrocious.

Let me guess, you didn't have cable while growing up?

The old Doctor Who was fantastic. The new one is even better.

There is a reason its the longest running sci-fi show of all-time. The original series ran 30 years (consecutively). It was only down about 12 years before they brought it back by popular demand.

She may not be the best actress, but I do like "her". She has the most beautiful eyes EVAR! You can get lost in those eyes of hers.

When it started I had to look her up to see where I'd seen her before. She was Trillian on "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" movie, and the love interest in "Elf".
