Eye sight and colder weather

No one else I know gets this problem. But as soon as the temps start going down, my eye sight gets incredibly blurry. Like even at 55 F degrees. But especially at even colder temps. And I don't have to be going fast down a hill to get the blurry vision. It's kind of dangerous when you can't see where you're going.

I'm thinking they're dry, but then why don't I get this in the middle of a Utah summer (very dry)?

Blurred vision of this nature is almost always caused by discrepancies / abnormalities in the "tear film", a three layer coating of oil, water, and mucin, that covers the most anterior surface of the cornea. Irritation caused by wind, cold, heat, dryness, plugged "eye glands" or any foreign body will result in several problems: First "reflexive tearing" takes place. Basically the reflexive tears that are produced are not up to par in giving you good vision, and can actually irritate your eyes more. Secondly, just plain dryness is another possibility, even though it only happens when it's cold (cold air is dry too, and wind can make it worse). When you say it's like dry eye, you are absolutely right, in that some sort of irritation is causing an abnormal tear film. The solution? You could try over the counter "artificial tear" drops, but I'm not sure they would be practical to use them in your situation. Another thought would be to make sure you have eyewear that protects from the elements, like wrap around shades. Good luck, hope this helps.
