Living Car Free - well then

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

when I first saw this forum I thought "car free living, wow this must be a place where people who live without cars talk about how they do it , what makes it easier, the issues and benefits it brings to them, and just a all around discussion about the choices people make when they become carfree."
I've come to realise the forum seems to be less about an individuals CHOICE to be carfree and more about plotting and discussing how to FORCE everyone else to be carfree.
would it be possible to make a subforum where we can discuss our individual choices in becoming carfree im kinda bored and tired of listening to people plotting on how to control everyone else and take their freedoms away.

Tony, Yep, sounds about right. You might be happier spending a little of your time down in the utility biking forum.(actually recently split off from this one for the same reason) Little less politics ..... little more how to get it done. JMHO
My main reason for being carfree is to sustain a healthy individual lifestyle with more opportunity for exercise. My other reasons for being carfree are to save money and have more fun.
Oh yeah.....I also care about the environment. ;)
BTW, any time I counted, I found there were more threads here about other issues than about the environment and politics. The environmental threads do get more responses, suggesting that some users have an interest in them.
Personally, I use the thread titles to assess whether I'd be interested in perusing further. If I'm not interested, I skip that one and go on to the next. That works better for me than complaining about the ones I'm not interested in. Could you do the same?

Hi.
I've come to realise the forum seems to be less about an individuals CHOICE to be carfree and more about plotting and discussing how to FORCE everyone else to be carfree.
Most of those threads start when some new member (present company excepted) jump in with a troll post about how they can't possibly live car free, and how dare people expect it of them, which usually generates a barrage of attacks on cars, car culture etc.
Basically, any forum is what the members or participants make of it.
Please start a thread about the issues you wanted to discuss. Then there'll be no need for a subforum.

lol so utility cycling is for people who don't plan to take over the world huh.
I don't mind the threads about all that stuff but all that stuff seeps into other threads.
anyhow I was just having a bad morning and kinda apologize for being so aggressive about the post althoug it still doesn't make it any less true I will agree I could have aproached it with more tact.
and seconds later I did make a more apropriate thread.
ahhh quit yer whining.
like any forum, we know best and want everyone else to go along. surprise, surprise.
(written with a smirk) ;)
I have to say that I don't really see much written here where a car free person advocates the use of force to impose his or her will on others. Must be in the threads I skip?

Could be. Or maybe you don't see raising taxes as "forcing others to do things."
