I'm new to this forum, but not new to bicycling.

Road:
early 1980's Raleigh Super Course (red), currently needs derailleur hanger repair and component replacement
new 2003 Jamis Quest
Mtn:
Mid 1980's Bridgestone MB-2
new (next spring) Jamis Dakar Sport
Location:
Idaho Falls, Idaho, U.S.A.
Average speed (solo road):
early season - 12.5 - 14.5 mph depending on distance
late season - 15-18 mph depending on distance
add 5 mph if I'm drafting
My primary reason for riding is to maintain a decent fitness level, and for me cycling is the most fun way to do that. I've done many of the supported road tours in the western U.S., although there are more that I would like to do. I also ride off-road, and have done a few mountain bike races even though I am not very fast.
