So mine is on the 21st. I was asked if I was bringing anyone and I just busted out laughing :) I said no. Just me. :) Flying solo this year!

Anyone else in the same boat? One of my co-workers offered to set me up, but I was like HELLA NO. It can be fun times going alone :)

I've woke up with people I desperately did not want to see after my office xmas parties in teh past. Luckily in government, we don't have them. Thank the baby Jesus!

Sounds like someone is going to enjoy herself. Don't over do it, you don't want scans of the photocopies you made at the party hitting the internet. Then again, I'm sure some of the Fooster guys might enjoy it.

Yeah I'll be flying solo as well. No worries though, it's just a low key dinner.

Our was yesterday....no worries like that for us as our holiday party is just a pot luck lunch in the conference room for our department.

Believe me, you don't ever want that problem... :(

The times it's happened have created some very awkward situations in the workplace.

Company parties stress me out a bit - I've ducked out of a few of them (usually stayed in the office to work later). Happy hour Fridays were never a problem though ;)

Air,
Yeah I'm alittle stressed by mine since its a new company I just started for, but I do know I won't be the only solo flyer there :)

I don't think we have the drinkin' parties. I think it's just cake and nerds.

One year I took the company president's daughter, upon her request. We had a great time together, and it was funny seeing how the others reacted.

BTW, I asked the President how he felt about me taking his baby to the party, and he stated "she could do a lot worse... I've seen it".

This year I flew solo, because both of the girls I date wanted to go. I never thought I'd have to deal with that in my entire life.

A friend/co-worker offered to set me up for last year's company Christmas party, and the guy didn't show!! We did actually end up going out a few times after that, but it didn't work (we're still friends though). I'm single again this year, and I just asked him (actually, told him) that he owed it to me to be my date for this year's party. My money's on him being a no-show again. ;)

I get laid off on the 21st and harvest temps like myself do not get invited to Company parties anyway. The wifes' company is laying her entire branch off about Christmas time anyway so no party there. A gay co-worker invited the two of us to a dinner party for the four of us he and his life partner are having. Since the partner is a professional chef the eats will be good. I'll bring course matching wines.

I've worked for GE for almost 20 years. In that time, I have been to 2 of the parties. Just something I figured I see the folks everyday, I don't want to see them on the weekend too.

I find it mind boggleing that 2 women as beautiful as you both are are flying solo. This just proves there is something very wrong with the balance of nature today.

I'm definitely skipping mine. I was intrigued by the free food, free drinks, and free door prizes bit, but then I found out the dirty little secret they weren't telling anyone in flyers:

"Dress for the holidays" is HR-super-secret code for "formal attire requested."

Mine is tonight... I want to go solo, but I have to bring the wife. :p

I was going to bring my camera as well, but I think people will get upset.

Mine is tonight. We are going.

I have always liked going to office parties, especially when they are held at nice restaurants.

Flying solo for mine this year... will be quite awkward, as a lot of people in my office dont know im single, so when they ask me where she is for the party.... yep... i hate explaining that one.... Few gals ive thought about inviting, but that might be even more awkward if people ask where my ex is with one of the girls around.... But oh well, free food, free booze, and theres going to be an after party for the younguns and the young at heart (the boozehounds)...

We used to get out of the office for a half day, go out to the horsetrack/casino, have a meal in one of the party rooms and blow our bonuses on the ponies/dogs/slots and no spouses/SO/dates allowed. We've since graduated to a more formal dinner and bringing your SO is almost required. This year, we're attending some holiday charity dinner/show thing that's tomorrow night.

Our xmas party is tonight....I'm debating whether to go, since all I will do is eat and get plastered on free booze (free jack daniels, hell yeah).

I'm just worried about waking up to having piitb of somebody outright scary....I'm a weird blend of sleepy, mobile and stupid when drunk.

There was a newspaper article on Company Christmas Parties. The do's and don'ts. Bottom line: behave because it reflects on you.

True. It's also an excellent time to weasel a bigger bonus by sleeping with your boss.
