Foo - Gaming Mouse VS apple wireless mighty mouse for my mac?

I need a mouse for my mac. I play games occasionally. I play call of duty most of the time. I'm wondering if it would be better to get a gaming mouse. The Apple Bluetooth mouse is 70$, around what I think most gaming mice would be. What do you think I should get? What features do gaming mice have vs a normal mouse? Thanks!

I'm not real up on these issues, but I can regurgitate a few things I've heard from gamers before.

1) Gaming mouse should never be wireless. Gamers too afraid they miss a beat on wireless connection.
2) Gaming mouses usually have a much higher resolution.

Thanks, I just do light gaming. Also, right now I'm using the huge trackpad on my macbook for gaming.

The wireless lag thing used to be true but Logitech's wireless G7 does not lag at All. My Green/White one is butt ugly but they have some other special edition colored ones. I don't know if the following are compatible with macs but I have these three connected at all times for when I feel a need to game.

Logitech G5 - Best mouse I've ever used. Good grip and adjustable weight so it can feel perfect. Newer versions have both forward/backward buttons on the side, my version only has a back but I make do. My daily operations/Photoshop mouse.

Logitech G7 - Wireless G5 but glossy and no weight adjustment. Full charge will give 4+ hours of usage. 2 batteries included and they charge rather fast.

Logitech MX510 - I think it's not made anymore but the improvement model on this (MX518) is a wonderful mouse if you can't find the G5 or G7 in your price range.

I'm a big Mac fan but whoever designed the "mighty" mouse should be crushed. Worst mouse I've ever used. After about 3 months of everyday use, the scroll pea gets clogged every 30 seconds and the click often sticks. That's on 3 different mice, all now replaced.

Wireless mice are always always dieing. Then again most of the Mac mice i've seen seem to be designed for something other than a computer. Personally I'd look for a 3rd option.

Wireless mice always end up losing connections at the worst moment, forcing people to yank out a cheap mouse out of the desk and plug it in.

I'd recommend finding a decent Logitech/Microsoft mouse or rollerball, sticking with that. Gaming mice work too.

It is unbelievably responsive, no lag in the mouse movements what so ever. Perfect for work or gaming. Wireless sucks especially if you get a higher end wireless mouse. I'm guessing because of the high resolution they seem to go through batteries like crazy. BTW I play call of duty too.

just get a decent optical mouse that fits your hand

Apple mice blow chunks. don't buy them.

the last good mouse Apple made was the ADB II - and even that wasn't as good as the ADB I, durability-wise.

i've had a similar experience, mostly because of greasy fingers from eating cr@p when i'm working.

How do you program the buttons? The problem is, I also need a mouse that works with my mac

The buttons are easy to program using the gui razer provides in the software. I checked the razer website and they do offer mac drivers. Not sure if they work for all of their mouses but the Pro/Click v1.6 is made for a mac. http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16

Probably the best keyboard I have is the old ADB full size keyboard that I went with a Mac SE eons ago. It just had a nice feel to it.

yeah, i've stockpiled a few M3501's over the years. best damned keyboard ever made.

of course, i'll never wear out the first one! 15 years on, it's still going strong. the key switches in those things are rated to last 15 million keystrokes!
