Anyone have the Aloha 1.0? http://http://fujibikes.com/2006/bikes.asp?id=141

I am thinking of getting one, then adding some better wheels. I have a Fuji team pro now with Aerobars, and wondered if to get a dedicated Tri /Time Trial bike this year. I do mainly sprints and some short time trials.

You'd be good to go.

I have one. It is a nice bike that is a great value for the money. It is not what is holding me back from the podium.:p

edit: Oh and I rode the Motobecane at a BikesDirect shop. Exactly the same thing.

The Fuji with a nice set of aero wheels is a great tri bike. The components are fine and other than personal reasons, don't need upgraded. The wheels would probably be my first purchase.

I notcied Nemesis has a few different components this year. Cranks and Bars.

I was thinking of the group buy from BD on the wheels.

If properly fit on this bike, would one expect it to be 1-2 mph faster than a road bike?

Once you got used to the position and can hold it add a disc and aero front......that would be a reasonable increase.

At least 2mph on the flats. I'm much, much faster on my Aloha than I am on my road bike, and I've got an aggressive road position. The wattage drop isn't horrific either, on the order of probably 5 to at most 10%.

One question on fit for TT bike like Aloha.

I ride a 54CM Fuji Team Pro now, and was looking at a 54 Aloha. I read that some people get a size smaller to get an agressive fit.

Any input on this?

Your team Pro has a 54.5cm TT while the 54 Aloha has a 54cm TT. The 52 has a 51.7cm TT. Most people do go down a size, but you are talking almost 3cm, which isn't terrible, but it's quite a bit. You could probably get away with either, so I would ride them if you can first.

actually 05 Aloha 54 I am looking at has TT 538 acutual / 540 effective and Team 540 / 550
the Aloha 52 is 512 /520

so I think that Aloha 54 is OK as it is less than my Tour to get me more angled / forward in drops- is that correct

Is tt main thing to look at on sizing or the effective top tube #

Effective, and you go down a size not to get an aggressive position, you go down a size to get a pretty middle of the road tt/tri fit. Think two sizes or more for really aggressive.

Effective TT.
But in your first post you say the Aloha 1.0, the your second one says the 05 Aloha. The 1.0 didn't start until 2006, so just make sure that you get the correct bike(as in, don't let them upcharge you because they're passing an older bike as a newer one off on you).

Sorry about confusion. I was looking at 07 and 06 Aloha 1.0 but now may get a good deal on the 05. 05 is Spec'd quite well but a little heavier than 06 and 07.

In 08 the Aloha 1.0 is now like the 2.0 in with real crap components.

I am going to wait till I get the deal I want as this is really an extra toy and I am not that fast yet. Hoping I will train harder with a dedicated TT bike, as I would not want to look like a clown. Definitely no Disc wheel till I get to top 10-20% of riders or close to 25MPH avg.. Definitely no pointy helmet till winning age group.

When it's 'free' speed, why not get the tools now rather than later as it will help you reach your goals sooner?

Okay, makes sense.

I agree with Dalai though. You're talking probably 2-3 minutes with a disc and aero helmet at 20+ mph. I would definitely look into it. At least get a wheelcover for your exisiting wheels and try it out.

Never turn down speed.

I will try out the cover. The local TT is only 8 miles and I am at 22MPH now.
Intend to do a lot more interval training this year to get better at it, and find some longer TT.

Well pulled the trigger on the 07 Aloha. Hope to get it next week as gift to myself for XMAS.

I am excited as got a good deal on it, and I think I will be more motivated to suffer on intervals, so my friends do not give me crap for having a TT bike and not getting any faster.

This hobby is expensive even on the lower end.
