Hi,

I'm trying to get my dad back into bicycling. One thing I'd like to get him for Christmas is a gift certificate to a LBS (local to him, at least) for a tune-up. I've come up empty looking in yellow-pages directories for bike shops near Vidalia, GA. Any suggestions? I'd like to save him a trip to Savannah just for a tune-up.

His bike is old enough for new cables, housings, brake shoes, good check and possible replacement of bearings, etc. So any comments on good/bad service from LBSes in the area would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I know there is a bike shop in Statesboro. Not really close at about 40 miles, but closer than Savannah.

Good deal, thanks for information. Do you have any experience with them?

Billy is the owner. It's a family run deal. He's very friendly and knowlegeable, the store is well stocked, and it's easy to get in and out of. I've purchased 2 bikes from him and had only one minor complaint that was more of a misunderstanding on my part.

I'd recommend it unless he's going to be in Savannah, then he should visit Quality Bike Shop on Montgomery Crossroads.

Cheers,

Michael

Here is a list (not sure how current it is) of "most" of the bike shops in Georgia.

Good luck finding a shop and a bike.

You might want to contact one of the locals in Vidalia and ask for a recommendation or two. Here's a link to one of the riding groups in the area.
