Mountain Biking - tune up or new?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
so here is the deal...i bought a raliegh m50 3 years ago for about 340 dollars...I used it alot the first year and then i got into road biking and since the winter is here i want to get back into mtb biking...i need new cables, chain and pretty much everything my LBS said...which is true...they said it needs a complete overhaul and all this would be done for about 150 dollars including parts...now this is where im stuck, should i continue to put money into this bike or step it up and get a better bike...i know mine is entry level now, i was thinkin off getting a "sport" level bike...what are your thoughts?

Maybe a great time to learn more about how your bike works? Running cables was very intimidating to me the first time, but not very hard at all once you buckle down and do it. The chain might be the easiest thing to swap out on the bike. What else needs to be done? Upgrading is always fun but keeping a machine running that needs work can be very rewarding as well.
