Just thought I'd put this out there:
So cal Bike Forum ranked 5th for Miles logged
No cal Bike Forum ranked 66th...More people riding down there?
thoughts? I would think higher density of riders and open space?
I'm not familiar enough with SoCal to determine.

Maybe we just aren't using Bike Journal. I was, but I'm too lazy.
Looking at my computers I'm just a hair over 7000 this year, and none of it crediting the Nor Cal folk. Should I feel badly?

Haven't logged miles since October.
I do prefer activebody.org since it can track running and other workouts and it's generally a "less heavy" website.

More members in SoCal (not necessarily more riders than NorCal, but more BF participation). Plus, more of them are into long distance, like brevets, doubles, etc ... If you look at the triple crown stats, there are a larger number of SoCal triple crown winners than NorCal. Plus, they have the CAM challenge ... century a month, which I try to maintain, but have fallen off in November and December. Plus, some of the SoCal members keep poking the rest to log your miles in. We should do the same.

Well that all makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the info. I thought maybe we we're watching too much TV. I'll have to check out the Activebody.org, I never heard of it. I just decided this year to try and train correctly for the century season for a change. I remember someone at the Davis doulble saying how comfortable a ride they had, and that they got off their bike feeling good! So that's kind of my goal this year and I made Dec 1st my first day of training for doubles hence the use of Bike Journal.

I'm not sure, but definitely the Davis. I almost did the Mt. Tam double last year but was feeling like crap at the time, so I opted for the century. I've heard the Solvang is a good one, but kind of far for me to travel to. Any suggestions?

Solvang is a nice first double, not too much climbing, pretty scenery. It was my first in 2006. It rained.
Central Coast is gorgeous and really well supported, it has some tough climbs.
Davis is nice, with about 1/4 of the ride dead flat.
Eastern Sierra is absolutely beautiful, but you have a twenty mile section of expansion joints every 10 feet or so that is brutal.
Tam is beautiful, very well supported, a lot of climbing.
Knoxville is a great ride, roads are good, very well supported.
I have write ups about all of them on our website - tandemhearts.com if you want to know more.
I'm planning on Solvang, Devil Mountain (gulp!), Central Coast, Tam and Knoxville this year. If DMD goes well and I can get my speed up, I'd like to try Terrible Two. If DMD turns into a DNF, I'll add Bass Lake I think. I've done three doubles each of the last two years and I'd like to go for 5 this year. I'd like to do the stage race doubles some day, because not too many women do all three and I'm pretty much guaranteed a top ten spot. It's definitely a stretch goal though!

I'm going to do Solvang again in 2008, and I might even do Butterfield, but not sure yet. I may skip Davis, to try and concentrate on Eastern Sierra. After doing Eastern Sierra, I'll see how I feel, if I want to do Mt. Tam or not. Otherwise, I may opt for Grand Tour.

I'll have to see if I can also add my miles to a secondary club. My primary group is Bent Rider Online.

I have switched to BikeWire.net as it seems to be a better site and they have power data as well.
