Foo - Ideas for romantic engraving.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm giving my GF a ring and I have the option of putting an engraving on the inside and/or the outside.
I can't decide what to say.
I don't want to use the word love, because I can't just yet go and use that word.
I want something that will be romantic, but not make her think I'm in lovce with her, yet will still be true whether we fall in love, or only are friends, or end up getting married!
Ideas, I'm having troubles here.
I can think of plenty of love quotes, but none that mean I care for her without implying or saying the L word.

''From Pheard <3"
I would think the ladies would have something really good to say!
The ladies disapoint jon.
I'm going to ask Taerom and Max, I bet they'll have sweet ideas.
"Nice shoes. Wanna ****?"
You are giving her a ring but don't love her. Wow, you're either really brave or really foolish.
As for the engraving, just let the ring speak for itself.....

Can't figure it out? Then don't get it engraved! Let the ring speak for itself.
Or you could always put a line from a poem on there...Maya Angelou always works well. ee cummings, not so much.

Doolally, I freely admit I have odd taste. But I feel they're both very good and have their romantic moments.
May I submit this (http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/may-i-feel-said-he/) as evidence?

I also like. It would have to be a big ring, though.
Reminds me of Molly Bloom.

So... giving a person a ring as a gift is a no no if you don't love them?

Exactly, go for earrings or a necklace.
Edit: Giving rings are usually for promises, engagements, marriages.

Fuzzbox is right, rings speak of longterm commitment.
Consider matching tatoos instead.

Crap!
See she thinks she's getting a ring now!!!
I have no idea what earring or necklace to get her.

Make it right, Pheard!
Ask her to marry you and give her a rock.

How about something like this http://www.sapphirelane.com/ANAM%20CARA%20RING.htm
Or, there are other ideas on that site as well.
The only rock I can afford is a cubic zirconia!

The only rock I can afford is a cubic zirconia!
Then get a necklace with a rockless pendant.
She's now going to expect a certain ring, and it won't be there.
Dang, dang dang.

Woah! You have really screwed yourself Jon.
Everyone knows rings are given to celebrate pregnancy and the wedding that has to happen before the bride starts to show a tummy lump.
Thats the only time giving a ring is appropriate.

But, that's perfect. If you're going to ask a woman whom you don't love to marry, for goodness sake don't give her a real diamond.
Give her the diamond when you finally fall in love with her. Like, your fiftieth wedding anniversary.
She knows there's no commitment as I'm going to be going on a mission in a little while. She knows it's over when I leave. She's full aware it's just a present, if that changes anything.

Pheard - Take my word for it... "I think, therefore you are" - except use that little 3 dot triangle from math instead of the "therefore"

there's this philosphical statement, "I think, therefore I am" - so, a romantic play on it would be "I think, therefore YOU are"... except, for some reason, the original quote is usually written as "I think (a pyramid of 3 dots) I am"

Pheard, you know someone who has made jewelry - get some real-life assistance! There's some really lovely handmade stuff out there that would be far more special than cookie-cutter pieces you can't afford anyway. You live in the Bay Area of Northern California - there's plenty of it there.

Jon. My earlier suggestion was perhaps sentimental. It's what my husband first said to me when he was still uncertain about telling me he loved me, but yet, wanted to express some sentiment. :)
You might also simply have engraved the date of your first date, or some other significant date. No initials, no names. Just a date that means something to you.
And, FWIW, two years seems like forever at your age (it's 10% of your life to date, after all), but it's not that long a time. If you really like her, stay in touch. :) ((hugs))

Well how about,
I'd like to have sex with you
If you already have then,
I'd like to have more sex with you
She won't get the wrong idea from either of those.

Oh. Then I apologize then for taking your comment unserious!
I like the idea of engraving our first date, that's an AMAZING idea!!!!! I might do that.
Oh and we will stay in touch, above everything else, physical attraction, emotions, whatever. We're just really good friends, so no matter what happens I hope we stay good friends forever. If nothing comes of it, we shall see!

not sure if a swiss army knife and a ring go together as a gift?

Yeah. Knives are ALWAYS romantic.

Especially when given with a ring. :D
Edit: I have a "BoyScout" knife like that SwissArmy knife, given to me by ol' man Santa when I was knee-high to a fart. But it still meant a lot. :p
Edit #2: You know, Jon, that a ring doesn't have to be a big thing, yet, can mean an awful lot in a very big way. Depends on the person receiving the ring, and his/her maturity and context for the particular relationship.... :)
I think you can still give her a ring. How bout a nipple ring?

How about:
"I knew you were meant for me the moment I first saw you. Of course it was through a rifle scope and I had my pants down.
Love, Jon"
How bout: "Made in Taiwan"

Jon, is this the CTR ring? If so, you may want to explain the meaning of it.:)
I'm sure Siu will love your ring for her.

She understands the meaning of it, the CTR ring is a mormon thing. :)
