I'd got it in my head to try a metric-a-month this winter, and I'd been OK in Sept, Oct, and Nov. I nearly did one last weekend, but things got complicated (obligations, you know).
Today the weather forecast was 32, rising to 36-37, light rain off & on...
So at a little after 7 I grabbed the Fuji 3-speed conversion and headed out into the damp, cool dark.
Several hours later (let's not discuss just how many), in a moderate rain, the odo ticked over 100KM.
Phew. Out of money, out of tubes, phone battery dead. It was good to be home.
Three Flat Tires. ugh. One pinch, two glass (I'd assumed the first glass was a pinch... whoops).
The rear flat was a slow leak that I kept trying to nurse home. When I got down to 4 mi between stops, I gave in and fixed it.
And yes, I used all three gears. :-)
I'd have been a little faster on the 'bent, and probably more comfortable (wrists & back) but speed isn't what it was about.
A metric on a 3 speed on a cool winter's day... It seemed sporting :-)
And the Fuji Dynamic 10? Nice bike. Lots of wheelbase, lots of whatever in the fork. Thanks to member FRANKIEJ for the frame!
