Living Car Free - News Reporter Riding A Bicycle While Finishing His Report

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Tonight, December 8, 2007 on the NBC news program there was a news reporter riding a mountain bike while reporting his story, "Canadaville".

A billionaire Canadian saw the problems in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and wanted to help some families. He built a small community one hundred fifty miles north of New Orleans and let families live there rent free for five years if they would follow a few rules.

The people interviewed seemed very happy with the situation. There was no mention of being car free in the list of rules. There were cars parked by some of the trailer houses.

At the end of the story the reporter was talking while slowly riding a borrowed mountain bike (he was way too tall for it). There was no mention about bicycles or any reference to environmentalism, he was just finishing his report by riding a bicycle. Either the cameraman was walking backwards quickly or he was filming from a car.

What do you think of that?

NBC has been doing features on many "green" stories this month.
