Southern California - Socal Bf Holiday Party - Pics And Report

Great time everybody! Wonderful to see BF peeps in street clothes, as well as the SOs we so rarely get to see. We had a few cancellations at the last minute, which was disappointing. But one of the highlights of the evening was when the manager came to us and announced that one of the missing BFers asked the restaurant deliver us a delicious bottle of wine!

Thank you Sean (Ziptie) for the wonderful gift!!! We enjoyed the wine immensely, although it could not come close to having you there in person.

Thanks to ME, Steve (Cassave), John (Octico), Kristine (Apples4Johhn), Ron (Spingineer), Phil (Extort), PaulB, DaveSANYYZ, John (JPConrad), Sonia, Vance, Dorothy and Lee (Go_Fast) for the stellar time.. you guys are the best! :D

Thanks Joy for setting this all up. It was a lot of fun to see everyone, and be able to chat with everyone without having to be hyperventilating while talking. I echo Joy's sentiment also.

I got questioned by Scoot this morning regarding my behavior, as reported to him by a "person." (i.e. His spy. His tool.)
For the record: Reports of my inebriation were greatly exaggerated.

YES, I had a giant margarita the size of my head.
SURE, I partook in the delicious wine Sean had sent over. But....

No half lidded eyes. I was just studying everyone with a critical eye.
No staring blankly at people. It's part of my inscrutible Asian nature.
My hand signals were misunderstood. I kept giving a "thumbs up" sign from the other end of the table because I couldn't hear what others were asking me and I simply wanted to be agreeable. I didn't use the "other" finger, after all.
All my clothes remained on. My feet also stayed on the floor. (Well, except for one instance when I showed someone my boots)
No incessant giggling. I chortled. I guffawed. I laughed out loud. But I did NOT giggle.
Yes, I did grope the single men. But I don't need alcohol to do that. :p

I think you are underestimating the size of that marg. If I (at double your weight) had drank that marg (on an empty stomach, no less!) I would have been under the table.

I was hanging with my OC bros in the corner and had no idea what you were asking me. I'd hear someone yell my name, I'd look up and see all your faces at the other end of the table looking at me like you're awaiting some sort of response. Being in an agreeable mood, I just gave a "thumbs up" to everything.

I don't see what's so wrong... You all seemed to find that a satisfactory answer at the time. :p

Well that was a fun bunch, Kristine and I had a great time. It was really nice to see some old friends and make some new ones. Happy Holidays!!

Looks like a fine bunch having a fine time. This reminds me on my own experience years ago when a bunch of SoCal AOL music board contributors got together for a Christmas party. This was back in 96, when the AOL chat/b boards were all the rage. I was part of a group that participated on the "Worst Songs Ever" board, which ended up being one of the most viewed and commented upon boards. It was all strictly for laughs, and we ended up with a core group that gel'd really well... online. So when it came time for the party, I was very curious to see how we'd all gel in person, if the character displayed online was the same or different in person. This was also before avatars and hosted images, so there was no way of knowing who was who until we actually met. I honestly anticipated a bunch of social misfits, geeks and dweebs ;) I do fine in groups, but was concerned for some of the others. To my great surprise, those people in person were just as fun and funny, and even moreso, than online! Two in particular because their sarcasm in person was magnified. We had such a great time. Two of them fell in love and wed, with many of the AOLers there at the wedding, including me doing the taping.

Biking is a bit different, isn't it, given that it is partly a social sport. Y'all see each other a lot on the roads and trails, and sit together eating after rides or during breaks.

BTW, Davesanxy drove all the way up from San Diego to dinner, had dinner, goofed off with the rest of us, then drove back to San Diego. Now that's dedication!
