Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Wheelset Advice

Hey All,
I'm building up my first road bike and am going to equip with Campy Veloce Grouppo. Due to budget reasons I am looking at the following wheelsets: Campy Vento / Mavic Askium Race/ FSA RD220 - Any advice on what would be best for 210lb rider? I do NOT race but I ride 40-80kms on Hilly Terrain with avg speed of 28kmh. Thanks for your advice!

While I have heard good things about Campy wheels, if you want several years of
trouble free service get some CXP33 or Deep V rims and Shimano hubs.

At that weight, Mavic Askiums are your best bet. You won't be a Clyde long with the riding you do.

Thanks but Ive been riding for 2 yrs at that level, I do weight training as well so I have actually put weight on. I have no intention of slipping below 200lbs. Sometimes we just have to accept nature and do the best with what we have.

Thanks for the feedback. I bought a Campagnolo Scirrroco Wheelset off E-bay this morning. Used but I got it for $156.00. For that price I might as well give them a shot.

Why not! :D You aren't real heavy as Clyde's go, so I really don't see an issue ;)

Good score on that wheelset. I was gonna recommend Xero- lite but those oughta be good. I just made an old bike of mine 10 speed with that Veloce group and I know for sure, you will like that!!!!!!!!!! They say the shifting is comparable to shimano 105 but so far, I think its on level with ultegra. Enjoy!
