Southern California - Weather's not too great

I was hoping to do some riding this weekend, but it is too cold and windy. The 10-day forecast for Irvine isn't encouraging - it's going to get colder before it gets warmer. Where is the global warming when you need it?

Ok, this might sound rude but quit being a wussy. :p The sun is out, it's a great day to ride! So it's a bit windy, nothing a wind breaker won't fix. Even then I rode in short sleeve jersey today, and wasn't cold.

Just layer up. It's actually quite pleasant now. Base layer, jersey, arm warmer, and light jacket, skull cap, and you are good to go.

This is my favorite cycling weather...not too hot, sun is out...

Sox, sandwich bags over toes, shoes, shoe covers over that. Feet happy, me happy. It was 50 when I left the house. It was good; this is doable.

There was virtually NO wind along the North San Diego County coast this morning! Did an easy 40 miles from Del Mar to Oceanside and back this morning with a couple of friends. The air is SO clean and crisp after the rain. Yes the road was a little sloppy in places, but a PERFECT morning for a ride!

Bundle up and get out there! Yes, it's cold and windy, but it's so gorgeous and clean air (well, cleaner air anyway) :D

Come on, it doesn't really get cold here in SoCal, at least not in the lowlands. If it's windy, pick your route carefully. Man,(or woman), up!

How does one exactly man or woman up? I know I'd like to man up, but I don't think that's what you mean entirely.

wow...she's hot.

We were out there today (Sunday). Wasn't cold, a bit chilly in the morn but the sun was warm and chiny (my Spanish accent). Cliff bars are great when chilled but the wind was a muthah!:eek:

I'm thinking of auditioning for the 'Cliff Bar Boy' role!:D

The wind was howling up here in Topanga, so I said no freaking way to riding at all. Instead, I drove some of the Malibu hills, took some pics (film, so nothing to share for a day or two), and had a big plate of pasta. While on PCH I noticed the wind wasn't as severe. Had I known that I would have loaded the bike in the car and at least do a short beach cruise. While perusing a map at the bottom of Topanga Canyon Blvd, I noticed a rider turn up into the canyon from PCH. I thought, "Wow, good luck going up that hill in these winds. You're obviously a better man than I." 2 minutes later he passes me on my side of the road. He obviously hit a wave of wind that knocked some sense into him. 40 - 50 mph gusts must have been his limit.

This is turning into a foo thread ... :lol:

Was fun today. Only 6 people showed up from my club to ride today (the rest are wimps =P) We had 4 flats but had alot of fun. Headwind going out and tailwind coming back. Was a blast as always.
