Hey, people.
I've come across a 2007 Roubaix Comp frameset--frame, fork, and headset. For those who know, what is a good offer to make for such a frameset? Seller says it is new, which means it was once a complete bike that was parted out "by professional mechanics." The complete bike retailed for $2,200 in '07.
I've been looking around for a Roubaix because of its geometry. I was building up a Jamis Xenith Pro racing bike but have decided the geometry doesn't fit me the way I would like and will sell off that frame. I can transfer the components, including great wheelset, compact double crankset, etc., onto the Roubaix frame if I buy it.
Ideas on good Roubaix price?

Last year Specialized was charging $1200 (or so... can't remember...but it's within $100) for a frame replacement in the Roubaix line. This came with a warranty. I'd probably start at $750 and see how the seller reacts.

FWIW, I paid $650 for an 06 Roubaix Pro frame, fork and headset on Ebay a few months ago, used but in excellent shape. $700-750 for a new 07 Comp is probably about right.

Thanks, BSVeVan & Luv@cruz
I'll offer between $750-$800. Maybe post again if I get it (excitement & all that).

Got the frameset for $590 plus $20 shipping. Not bad! I'll let you know what it looks like when it arrives.
Now I just need to sell this the new '05 Jamis Xenith Pro frameset that I was building up! :)

Anybody have any worries buying a used cf bike online, not knowing its history with regards to frame integrity or previous level of stress? (3 steel bikes here and with some perhaps needless apprehensions.)
*I know that several here have done so with very happy results. Still....

I bought mine from a fairly well-known brick-and-mortar shop in CA, they sold it new and took it on trade from a customer who bought another frame from them. They vouched for its condition, and it indeed didn't have a mark on it. Under my conditions, I feel pretty confident.
If I DO encounter any trouble, this forum will hear it first....:)
