I'm looking to buy a new road bike and have found a couple of bikes locally. One is a new in the crate K2 Mach 3.0. for $700.00 the other is a Raleigh R600 used, but in excellent condition for $575.00.
Can anyone offer some insight as far as these two bikes are concerned?? Prices etc. They both have the 105 group... the Raleigh is COMPLETE 105 the K2 has 105 and some other components.. all AT LEAST 105 level though.
THanks for any help.
Doug

I haven't ridden the Raleigh but I have ridden the K2s and have found them to be very nice bikes for the price. Actually they're very nice bikes in general. They're fairly well balanced and are pretty stable yet remain nimble enough for dodging potholes at 30MPH. The one I tried at my FBS had carbon seatstays and a carbon fork so while the Al frame might hint at being harsh (especially if you look at the shape of the tubes) road vibration and slight bumps were damped well. I did notice a bit of shifting (chainline?) issues from the triple crank on the bike I tested though but that may be an assembly or stretch problem as it was a floor demo model. I wouldn't say the bikes are exceptionally light but they're not hogs either. I found that on a respective trim/model level they were lighter than their Giant OCR counterparts. Many bike shops are selling the K2s for quite a bargain these days not because they're not good bikes but because they're understated and overlooked and thus it seems a lot of people shy away from them. I guess most people don't take K2 seriously as a roadbike company and admittedly they are relative newcomers to that market segment. However, I believe they are good bikes and although I don't own a K2 roadbike, I do own a K2 MTB and have found the quality and build from that company to be exceptional.

I was looking at a few of the K2 last weekend at performance bike they were 50% off, seemed like a nice bike just from looking at it. Other bikes you might want to check out are Fuji and specialized.
