I was playing football today with some friends, long story short i think i sprained my ankle. It hurts to walk, its pretty much unbearable. When i did fall i herd 3 loud cracks, not sure if thats any good. When i lay down and rest my leg it feels fine, just a little bit of pain. Should i go get this checked out?

yes
Dip your foot into some wet concrete, let it dry and break it open in 6 weeks, should be good as new.

Loud cracks not good. Elevation, ice, doctor, xray, pronto.

Last time I heard a crack during a fall I'd broken my arm playing rugby.
Yes, definitely get it checked out - broken bones that heal while misaligned can cause problems later on.
Take some Tylenol, you'll feel fine in the morning.
Just wrench it in the opposite direction. It'll hurt like the dickens for a moment, but it'll snap all of your bones back into place, and you'll be good as new!

Im not joking, thanks for the advice for those without sarcasm.
Hey, you got your answer in the first reply. It's open season after that. ;)
My post contained no sarcasm, only sagely advice from a registered, certified medical professional...me.

yes
I don't think it is appropriate for you to give this medical advice unless you are a trained health professional.

Uh oh, now I'm starting to think like Taerom!!!
Should i go get this checked out?
This is one of those questions that undeniably always has the answer *yes* as a reply. That is, if you feel the need to ask someone else this question, you already know the answer to it.
Kind of like asking; "Should I call 9-1-1?" If the circumstances are such that the question would enter your mind, the answer is yes.

yes.
Then you understand any question about medical help followed by "make sure you bring the severed finger" is usually a yes too... :p

You'll have to wait for your answer Tom. I'm six days on the road but I'm going to make it home tonight.
Drive safe, keep the rubber side down.....:D
RICE: Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation. Then at you first opportunity, get it checked out by an MD.

You would definitely know that from experience, oh candidate for being able to be picked up with an electromagnet from all the screws that will eventually hold your skeleton together ;) (Unless you go all OCP and have them use Ti to keep the weight down ;) )

6 years ago I sprained my ankle very, very badly. I didn't have any medical insurance and I had to get one of those bootie things from a friend and work (as a waiter) on it for about two months. Well, I'm not sure what the doctor could've done for it that I didn't do, but it still gives me recurring problems to this day, blowing out at random, and seems to cause my knee discomfort, as well. So if you have the chance to see the doc, do it, don't tuff it out and cause a recurring problem.
Get your buddy to kick you in the nuts. The pain will be so excruciating you'll forget all about your ankle. Problem solved!

Go to a doc and if they think you need it have X-rays done
if its broken you'll probably need a gutter slab and will be out of action for min 6 weeks
if its sprained, make sure you keep using it. Let it rest too much and you'll regret it down the track. Keep using it and although it will hurt in the short term it will heal faster and probably better with a redcued need for recovery training.
Yes I'm qualified (in what you can guess at endlessly if required)

I howl laughing every time i see people without medical insurance trying to treat themselves.
Wait, that's not funny. :(

I don't howl laughing unless they hurt themselves on purpose or take unnecessary risks (which is pretty close to hurting yourself on purpose)

All of the screws used now are Ti anyways, because it's one of the few (if not the only) non toxic metals.
