There has also recently been found a illustrated book attributed to Nostradamus that points to 2012 as end time.

There has also recently been found a illustrated book attributed to Nostradamus that points to 2012 as end time. That's because he predicted that everyone who believed his prophecies would be unable to read.

quote from dumb link posted above
http://www.december212012.com/articl...012-update.htm:

"I will give you one example of something that is false. Money is false. There is no intrinsic value in the currency that we currently exchange. You can't eat it; you can't do anything with it; it's just paper and the only reason it holds value right now is because we agree that it has value. You take your dollar bill to the merchant and you trade it for.. let's say.. a banana. You are trading a small piece of green paper for a banana because you and the merchant both agree that the dollar bills value is equal to or greater than the banana. What do you think would happen if the merchant no longer agreed that the dollar bill held any value and he saw it for what it truly is, a small piece of imprinted green paper? You would keep your paper, the merchant would keep his banana, and you would be hungry."

That's ********, how does this person think the merchant got the banana in the first place? :)

Anyway, the most likely thing that will happen is we'll just have finished electing a new president. After suffering through 12 years of mediocre presidential leadership, the four years starting in 2012 won't be looking much better either. :(

The US will be in very sad shape and not be able to wipe it's own ars because the government is soft on illegal immigration and sending all the manufacturing jobs overseas therefor leaving it's core populous (whipped dog blue color)without jobs thus needing to claim welfare from the system that won't able to support it because the majority of the illegal population will have their family's draining the housing, education, and medical institutions because the government will give that too them too.

I fully expect China to invade the US being funded purely by profits from Walmart/Home Depot/Lowes
They will probably start by bombing us with children's toys filled with lead.
Then they will get rid of our live stock by putting poisonous material in the food.

I read an article about this a few years ago. It was definitely a 'things that make you go hmmmm....' moment when I read that about 5 or more major religions/cultures all had prophecies pointing to this as the end of the world. That's kinda eerie when you think about it....all these cultures and religions that may have known nothing of each other and the prophecies and they all independently came up with this year as their prediction.

Now....I don't necessarily believe that it means it will really be the end of the world. But it just could be that some world changing event happens that year. Maybe the pandemic that doctors/scientists have been saying is long overdue will finally show up. Maybe E.T. will finally come down and say "hey". Maybe George W. Bush will correctly pronounce the word "nuclear". I don't know what it is, but it might be something Earth-shattering like that.

I don't think we will......I was more envisioning it happening in private but caught on video recorder and it being played to the world as a press conference. Kind of an "OMG....the world is changing" type of press conference.

It's not 2012 that I'm worried about. It's 2010. Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. All the people that don't want to take international flights or stay overnight in Canada will be packing the cities and roadways from Seattle to Blaine. As if traffic isn't enough of a nightmare around here already.

I think it might take a "global or cosmic event" to have a change that great take place that suddenly. I'm open minded, but I don't dwell on these kinds of things either. If some great change happens in 2012...we as the human race or more on the whole as a planet will have to adapt to those changes or perish.

mayans were truly the masters of time, and had several calendars, 12/21/2012 is the last date on only one.

so i guess i'll stand on the only real right answer, i don't know

There was a sense of hysteria around here, too, with the Winter Olympice in 2002. People were bracing for gridlock, parking lots that ordinarily charge $5 or $10 a day were going to charge $75, we were going to be overrun.

Didn't work out that way at all. It's probably a good idea to brace yourself for the worst, though, and when it ends up not being that bad, life looks pretty good.

Are there any Mayan's left in this world? Isn't the calender written in a 300 or 400 year cycle? So if the white man wiped them off of the planet how are they suppose to write a new calender for the next cycle? End of the world hum bug.
