Southeast - rides in or near Fort Myers?

hello all! I'm going to be down in Fort myers for the first 2 weeks of Jan. Does anyone know of any good rides or routes down that way? Thanks in advance...

When I was down there earlier this year I checked with the bike shops. Wish I could remember a name but IIRC there are only three to check with anyway.

Sometime during the Jurassic period I was VP. for the "Caloosa" riders club in Fort Myers. A ride not to miss is going over the Sanibel causeway, riding Sanibel Island all the way to Captiva Island. Ding Darling wildlife preserve is on the way as well. Have fun!

We have spent Feb. in that area for the past few years and the traffic has been very heavy most places and most of the time. The Sanibel Island causeway has been undergoing reconstruction during these times and would be pretty scary on a bike if they allow them at all.

I go over the new Sanibel bridge often.....only area to be careful is the toll booth area when getting on and that same area when coming off the bridge......rest of the new causeway is just fine....every Saturday morning, you will see a lot of Ft Myers riders going over.....the ride up to Captiva is very nice.....
