Southern California - Tour de Santa Barbara III - Return of Madmax and the Thunderdome

NOTE: JANUARY 19TH IS NO LONGER AN OPTION

Okay, no Max or dome...I was just trying to appeal to you boys, guys, males, men, manly men, men manning up...:D Who wants another torturefest...um...I mean, fun run up from Sherman Oaks Amtrak to SB, taking the train back? Hmmmm? We would take off at 7am and with cooler weather, make it to SB in plenty of time to have dinner and grab a train. This go around, if we run into issues, we will cut the century short and take the train out of Carpenteria back (sorry, no hammerfest for the last 15 miles like last time).

So, any takers? I suggest the last route which included Balcom, but a few of you commented that you like Grimes better. So, vote please on a date and time.

I can't wait as this is one of my very favorite rides. Of course, I'm hoping to get a few good women along...hint, hint (girls, gals, females, womanly women, women womaning up?)

PS. As for dates, if I'm conflicting with an organized ride or another BF ride, please tell me which one. I don't have time to go look up every ride before offering dates, sorry!

The 26th is the Southern Nevada Stage Race, although it's probably not a problem.

Mary, there are some alternatives, Spring goes through to Walnut Canyon now. The part of Walnut canyon everyone objected to would be missed entirely.

So, I would suggest, Tierra Rejada to Spring, right to Walnut Canyon to Broadway to Grimes.

Or, 118 to Grimes to Broadway, left on Broadway to Shekell. Right on Shekell to Grimes and over.

Going north, Grimes and Balcom are about equal to me. The climb is nicer on Balcom in that direction, but the descent is much nicer on Grimes.

Btw, Thunderdome is an affront to the Mad Max franchise. It's not quite Waterworld bad, but needs to be exorcised from the trilogy.

Yeah I work Saturday-Wednesday at the old wastewater treatment plant. And a week will leave plenty of time to give notice.

Someone just PM'd me, called me Sugar Muffin and told me I'd messed up my date on February 3rd. Oh, oopsie, I meant Saturday, Feb 2nd as this ride would be difficult on a Sunday. As for the Sugar Muffin, I have my new user title. :p

I sooooo wanna do this, but I can only be in SoCal so many times. SB II was so enjoyable, and it was my first BF ride :D I guess February dates would work best for me.
