That bike looks very nicely set up. Conversions aren't just about what's "worth" converting, but also about passing on bikes that are worth leaving as-is. If you don't want this as a geared bike, sell it to me. Right after you change your user name, that is.

That puggy is freaking lovely. I also vote for keeping it intact. Sometimes it is okay not break what isn't fixed.

Speaking of Peugeot, I found a great looking PX-10 or PY-10 variant on Craigslist that I'm picking up thursday. It's made of Super Vitus 980 DB and has tubular alloy rims. Few Campagnolo parts in sight, so it's just under the top end model. $50.

I'm going to dissassemble, polish, repack, replace, and give it as a gift to my girlfriend's dad. :)

Stronglight cranks use a different threading for the crank puller correct?

Meh, I say convert it. Just don't cut anything off and enjoy it however you like. For a second there I thought I was in C&V.

Yes clearly this bike has too much bike and not enough hip.

On second thought, ya set it up however just don't do any cutting and keep those old components around. It just looks so nice with the down tube shifters and all. Those were some beautiful bikes.

I would shed a tear of joy if I found a Peugeot track frame in my size at a price I could afford. I love my Peugeots. I'm thinking of getting the logo as a tattoo.

Anyone - currently - working the bugs out on a fixed gear conversion on an '80s Peugeot?

This is a PSV10 and I believe 1984 vintage. I bailed on converting an older, heavier Peugeot I have when this one appeared with the right collection of resellable add-ons + the super-light Vitus 980 tubing. I was looking for info on other folks' Peugeot conversions and it looked like there hasn't been much talk of these recently. I wanted to pull the BB to check/re-lube everything, but not sure what tools I will need...and it looks like if it's an '84, it may be English threaded. The crank/chainring are stronglight and the chainline is straight as far as I can tell (about 35 miles 'tested') using the original 42 front ring. Originally, I was looking for options to change the spindle/spider so I could have a more common BCD to work with, but I'm also trying to keep the project pleasantly inexpensive (which, thanks to Ebay in both directions, it has been), so if it's only gearing I will want to change (currently 42-16), I will likely just do that at the rear wheel.

Semi ****ty slapped together parts, it has an english BB though so had no problems with the conversion. fun to ride

early 70s uo-8... i usually ride it on the singlespeed side of a flip-flop hub...
It was a lot of work w/ all the french threading. Just looking for new pedals now.
