Should be here in a few days.

Brakeside stay bracing. Larger diamater TT, DT, and chainstays. Chainstays and DT with 0.3mm thicker walls. Larger weld area and larger diamater to stiffent hings up and give less need for extra gussets. IMO, cleaner aesthetically.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/spicer20cycles2018391.jpg
Moderate headtube rings and gussets. The fork/headset I run, and how I run it will give me a 68.5 degree head angle with sag

Sliding drops, just purely for versatility. Rohloff or SS later? Play with my chainstay length? Sure!
All the parts from this are being swapped over.

This is getting the rigid/SS treatment. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/7-16-2007005.jpgSold my old SS after developing a taste for slacker geometry bikes, and not caring for its 71/71 angles. This'll much better suit.
Only changes to sizing and geometry from the old frame to the new: 0.5" longer TT and headtube; less spacer under my stem taht way. Fatty tire room. All standard sized stuff. I'd played with the idea of a 1.5" headtube, but decided to stick with the 1-1/8" setup

Interesting bikes. Dirt jumper/ XC? Who drew up and built the frame. Looks good. How do you like the suspended seat post?

Schweet.
Tell us, who built this for you?
How do you like the suspended seat post?
It's not a suspended seatpost.

Just looked closer at the blueprint. The designer/draftsman writes in an asian language.

Nope, not a dj by intent. The green one is my current do it all bike. Long high country epic, Moab XC epics, some hack urban and jumping, it's even hit the lifts at Keystone a few times. Just wanted to replicate the same frame in ti. :) Should give me the same durability, with a pound less weight, and never having to deal with paint/corrosion issues now that I'm living and riding in a much more wet environment than Colorado. If I were to only have one bike, this would be it. (well, at least the green one for now. we'll see if the new ti replica is up to snuff. i have every faith it will be.) Should be able to get some ride time on it in a few days.
XACD did it, with Gene Spicer acting as the procurer.

Thanks, scrublover, not familiar with Spicer until now.
Just got done reading your thread over at MTBR, very nice! Hope you enjoy!

Looks very nice.
I love their website. It reminds me of the ads in the back of MBA back in the early nineties with catchy slogans like "Obey Your Rules!"
"Surpassing and Challenging the Utmost Limit!"
You need to get some die cut vinyl stickers and rock that on the top tube.
Ooh, that is a nice idea. I like it.
And here I was just thinking of labeling it "Focker Bike Company" in pink lettering.
Strong, Desalvo, and BlackSheep were at the top of my list for the domestic guys.

Beautiful frame, both aesthetically and in its specificity of design.
Looking forward to the action pics.
Sold my old SS after developing a taste for slacker geometry bikes, and not caring for its 71/71 angles. This'll much better suit.Exactly why I've been eyeing the Transition Vagrant as kind of a do-it-all trailbike build.
Your solution is oh-so-elegant though. Beautiful frame.

Thanks. It's pretty specifically built for what and how I like to ride. No huge hucks and jumps, but more a constant moderate level of technical trail abuse, little drops all over the place, lots of steep roll in. Bomber durability doesn't have to be tank heavy. :D
The new ti frame is right about 4#, a pound less than the steel Peyto. I feel confident in it having the same toughness.
And ti can be repaired if I do break something, it's just spendier and harder to have done than steel.

It will once the pedals are on. Nah, didn't get something like that on. Didn't see the point of it when they usually end up at funky angles, and there are so many other ways to open a bottle anyhow.
The only frill is a chain hanger. I love those things, and not a lot of bike makers put them on any more. And the bottle cage mounts. Usually don't use bottles, but like the option for long epic slogs, and night light bottle batteries. And, they can hold all sorts of other things. :)

I think I just got that...

Hee. I don't have a beer on every ride, man.

Only thing I am looking forward to is a Fox DHX 5.0 which isn't getting shipped out until Friday.

Nope. Some days it's just too damn cold. Then it's a mini thermos of hot chocolate.

It was ok until the SPV valve in it decided to go belly up. Was planing on changing it in january regardless, this just gave me a reason to do it earlier.

The DHX 5.0 can be used for AM use.

Gotcha. I'm still digging the 4-way Air, the RS Pearl less so. It's the back up shock. No reason to change yet, though I may be missing out with the RP-23 and DHX offerings. Figure to try one of those when/if the Swinger blows up on me. Since my hardtail gets more of the mileage, it might take a while.

Yes i know, i was being sarcastic, referring to the DH bike thread also...

Only could do a little urban playtime this afternoon, but so far, it's ****in' sweet. Smoooooooth. 27# right on, according to the local shop scale. A pound lighter than the old. It could easily get lighter, but that would involve some more money and compromises to tha parts I like to run, which I'm not willing to accept. For a Not a DH beat the crap out of it hardtail, but just a tough, general take a beating do it all bike. Other than the slightly longer TT (only size change i wanted.) it felt just like the old ride. Beautimous.

Everything bolted up/threaded in/dropped in just fine. Gene faced and chased things before he shipped it out. Nicely shaped and minimal in look gussets. Me likey the aesthetics.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/head.jpg
The lowly chainhanger. An oft overlooked feature, and a nice touch to me. I wanted one. Not nearly as many bikes come with them these days. My bikes usually go on top of the car, on the rack. The chain hanger is nice for those once in a while times of throwing it in the back instead, since I generally take the wheels off for that.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/hanger.jpg
38mm diamater downtube, 22.2mm chainstays, both with 1.2mm thick walls. Nice and stiff, lotsa' weld area. The rest of the frame tubing is 0.9mm thick. Braced disc brake side stays and the headtube junctions are the only actual gussets.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/BB.jpg
Fatties Fit Fine, to steal from Surly for a moment. That's a 2.6" Kenda there, with a bit of room for more. Same clearance as the old frame. That's about average size for the tires I like to run, though sometimes a bit larger or smaller for specific rides.

Wow! I love how closely it resembles your previous HT. Very nice work! Is that a ceramic BB I see?

Yep. Needed a new one a while back, and figured what the hell.
I can't tell a damn bit of difference.
The other bike with Race Face X-Type bb stuff has Enduro bearings swapped in, but the regular stuff. It's nice because the I.D. is slightly smaller than the X-type standard, so you don't need the stock crappy plastic shim part. Actually, so does the ceramic. It's nice, but I'd not buy the ceramic again. I'm no racer boy, so it's not any sort of difference I'm likely to ever notice.
