Has anybody ever done this? I've got a set of Nitto RB021's and an extra set of oury grips. I've got one set up to the stem with enough room for a 26mm lever and a light on the other side. The most comfortable spot on the bars is there the drop ends and the curve forward begins. My last setup has bar tape on that area. Should I slap on the second set of Oury's to cover that curve or just wrap it up?

This Oury lust is getting insane.
Do what you like, but I'd probably put bar tape on there like an ordinary human being.

I had a picture of a guy who had ouries on the top, bartape on the curve and champs to finish. Old pic, like 4 years old out of NYC. Someone help me out here.

Are champs really that comfy? I've seen em at the shop by figured they were just another track racer accessory.

Ok I did it, double ourys and fizik wrap to finish the bars. Feels great.

Use 3 or 4 sets of ourys to cover the entire bar

Those are 38cm RB021's btw.
Why don't you guys just convert your grips into rubber dildos and be done with it.
are oury's soft? are they comfy? they look like they'd be stiff and super uncomfy.

They feel like rubber dildos.

from what i have heard/felt in stores they are very soft. i have never actually used them though sooooooo

In all seriousness though, they do eliminate the need for gloves of any sort. I just figured I'd oury the most commonly used areas of my bars so I don't have to use any gloves. The horns on my bars are only used for climbs.

Ourys are so comfortable, I recovered my saddle with them.
Nobody puts them on their tubulars so they can pull mad skidz?

oury grips @ $10 for a pair x 3 = $30
two rolls of cinelli cork = $15
plus, you won't look like a ******.
i do usually (read always) wear gloves so maybe it changes things
but i prefer a tight cork wrap on a normal diameter bar
too much gush is fatiguing
oury's on the top, champs on the drops, some shininess showing in the middle, i do it for bullhorns or drops, it's pretty great, the ends have a bit of flexiness so i don't need as much in ways of cushiness out there and i like the narrow bars and the grippiness, that's a lot of "iness" in one post

That coffeeshop that you ride your bike to must be super close, because big squishy grips generally fatigue your hands faster than a roll of cork tape.

This is the best setup so far, mainly because Yeti's are a little thinner than Oury's and feel less disgusting.
fixedpip
12-11-07, 11:06 AM
Yetis are ok but they're definitely not as comfy as Ourys and yet still get almost as 'sticky' and grim over time (esp if you crash and bleed on 'em).
I'm rockin' a pair of serfas clear grips on my risers and they feel pretty nice.

i dunno about most people on this board, but i wear gloves to prevent my hands from getting demolished in an a possible accident.... regardless of wrapped or unwrapped bars.

Yeah you guys make a good point. Now that I'm sober, it just seems really stupid to oury up an entire set of bars. It's too late now now that I have double ourys on my horns but they feel fine so I'm just gunna leave em like that.

as long as your hands are comfortable, who cares if your bars look like fudge. but yea +1 to ourys being great grips

really? i've ridden using ourys on top of drops/horns/on flats/on risers for a long time and done quite a bit of riding with them, including a double century, and i can't say i've ever complained about it fatiguing my hands. i think they're actually quite comfy. i do get black crap on my hands a lot, though. except lately, i only really wear gloves when it's cold.
