Car designer Bo Yeun Park, has come up with a new way to eliminate exercise for children. "The Nanny Car (http://thesalmonfarm.org/blog/2007/02/14/futurecar-what-does-it-mean-to-be-creative/)", an automated car to transport children 8-14 without needing Mom to drive.

FTA:
Bo's 2030 design is for children (age 8-14) who cannot drive, but have places they need to be. Parents program the vehicle according to their children's schedule and the vehicle takes them to their desired destination. Bo's design solution for her concept is programmable, driverless, lacks an instrument panel and steering wheel, while the windshield can be used for games and connectivity to the internet.

A driverless, internet enabled vehicle to transport your children. One security flaw and this thing turns into a kidnapper's "On Demand" service. I don't see it ever making it to proof of concept phase.

really cool idea imo. I personally love the idea of automation in driving automobiles.

Just like all driverless cars, I think this is a rather lousy idea.

What about a pair of these?

You slip them on your child's feet and they can use them to go where they need to go. No intervention from Mom necessary.

Only if they have embedded GPS chips for tracking purposes:rolleyes:;)

I pledge right now to flatten the tires of any automated car that I ever see parked in an effort to maintain my safety on the road, both while driving and riding.

I don't know what roads you people are driving on but I think a driverless car may be slightly less dangerous than the idiots on the roads I frequent

Just found this on the Target website. Hmmm. Are they preparing kids to buy these cars when they are grown up, for their kids?

The problem is inculcating children so thoroughly into automotive transportation at such a young age. As a kid 8-14, if I wanted to go somewhere on my own, I pedaled my bike. :)
