Mountain Biking - Hit the bench!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Have you ever tested something out a little too quick for the first time and it didn't turn out the way you would have like..? Hit that jump with the wrong angle or with not enough speed and bit the top of the gap on the other side? Struck the drop with too much force or landed into an indo?
Makes you wonder - You could click if ya want. (http://www.fish-forum.com//images/upload/Woah.wmv)
I haven't ridden a trail in about a month :(

Sorry to hear it, dude. Nice video, though :)
I know what you mean, though... my friends and I just built a jump in the local urban forest. We tested it out too soon, and found out it kicks you up way too high. I landed endo, sumersauted with the bike, and the bike ended up being propelled down the traii a good 25 feet. Next, my friend also landed endo but started to pull it off , but then hit the second jump out of control, and ended up rolling down the hill. He hit his head on a bunch of rocks, and then couldn't remember anything. We took him in for a CAT and x-rays, which turned out fine. It was just over a week ago, though, and he still has a constant headache. Thank goodness for helmets!

my brother cracked up LOL... sorry about the injury dude... get well and get riding :D nice vid
No injury but I thought it was going to resulted in one.
Usually all the crashes I have are from not scoping something out properly, or hesitating at the last minute. At Santos there's a skinny built that's a couple feet off the ground, and it has a board leaning at an angle so you can get up to the top of the skinny. I was just hitting the board and using it like a launch ramp. I hit it several times, and there's even some vids on my website of me landing it, but I came back around one last time before we headed home. Had too much speed, and the rear tire slid out from under me and I had one of the nastiest crashes I've ever had. My knees hurt so bad after that crash.. bent all my chain rings... sucked. I also had a nasty one where I hesitated because I hadn't scoped out the landing, and I basically endo'd really hard down a maybe 4 foot retaining wall, landing on my face.

Did not look to painful to me.
A suggestion, pull up next time and put your arse behind the seat;)
OR
Hit it a bit faster and hop to the second bench.

I was going to ask. Were you dropping it or trying to gap it?
I don't know if you would call it a drop, but I guess that is what I was doing. If you look at the "Delight" flick on my site there is a clip in that film of me hitting the bench (but this time not crashing). :) I don't think I could have hit the gap.. the benches were pretty far apart.

why is the movie so slow?
It shouldn't be... though you may have been downloading while others were as well. That may have slowed it down???
