Northern California - Getting Car fixed...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

...So I was hoping to get a ride in while they serviced the car. The wiper fluid just stopped working on me. I think it's just clogged but they put it in such a bad place that I'd have to take the front bumper off to get to the unit. I'll be taking it in to Maita Hyundai at 2436 Auburn Blvd. Any of you Sacramento locals know of any good riding in that area? Would it be difficult to get to the American River Bike trail from there?

You are about 6-7 miles away from the ARBT at Maita Hyundai. You could go a couple of ways... You could take Auburn east to the first intersection which is Fulton and take Fulton all the way down (it turns into Monroe and then eventually University Ave) You'd enter the ARBT at the Guy West Bridge at CSUS and go either to Old Sacramento or Folsom (Folsom being a little more scenic IMHO). Or if you're definitely heading to Folsom you could take Fulton, make a left at Arden Way, take it all the way down and hit the ARBT at William Pond Park.
I'm jealous. I would love to go ride today. It's beautiful outside.

Yeah well, don't be too jealous as this won't be till saturday at which point I would rather be riding in familiar territory.

When I take my car in, I bring my bike and ride to work from there.
The first time I went, I left the car outside and walked inside the dealership with the bike.
They thought I had brought my Cannondale in for service. The looks on their faces.... :D

Oh yeah, I guess I'm not. I'm doing a 60-miler on the Delta backroads on Saturday. Sorry man! Maybe you could get them to shuttle you to the start of the ride... ;)
Saturday eh? I rode the ARBT last Sunday toward the end of the CIM and it was great since all the runners were on Fair Oaks Blvd, but it's usually an obstacle course on the weekends. You might want to ride elsewhere. I just can't think of any great ride from where you're starting from... Although Le Tour de Rio Linda is nice this time of year... You are faster than a pitbull aren't you?

Hey! If they do smog checks you could just put your rear wheel on the dyno and it'd be like riding on a giant roller, but I don't know where they'd put that sensor that goes into the tailpipe...

I do the same thing! :) I also get strange looks but the staff always remembers me now.
