Route help: Hunington Beach to Chino Hills

Any suggestions on a route from HB to CH? Dropping my car off for service in HB (I know its far but I've got a great mechanic for my VW's), and will be riding back to CH by bike and returning to HB the following day by bike.

My thought is SART from HB to I belierode/ve Kramer, North on Kramer (good road or not?) to Lambert, left on Lambert to State College, right to Brea Canyon cut-off, right to Diamond Bar Blvd to home.

Reverse this the following day back to HB.

Anyone with comments on how Kramer is for riding (likley 10+ miles)? Also, my mechanic is about a 2 miles south of the 405 off Beach Blvd, and west of the SART path. Is there a safe east route to take to pick up SART (will I see the SART)? I can ride to the HB Pier (Main Street), south on PCH to SART, but not against shaving a few miles off this one (long way to and from home).

We've gone SART to Kraemer, Lambert but then right through Carbon canyon. Haven't been though CC on a weekday though, so not sure how traffic is at that time!

I'd choose Carbon Canyon as well...

SART should be easy to find from Beach & the 405...hit Warner or Slater and cross the highway until you hit the path.

I've done exactly this route from my house (Ontario) to Huntington Beach and it works very well. Afew hills on Diamond Bar Blvd but you're going to have to deal with climbing with just about any route. Here's my routeslip:

However, Carbon Canyon is the shortest but i have yet to take it (my friend was too wussy to try it).

Kramer, while busy, is easily bikeable even though there aren't bike lanes. Lambert is the biggest challenge since there's not much shoulder space so you'll have to take the lane or ride the sidewalk. Additionally, making a left turn from State College onto Lambert can be tricky if you want to use the road lanes (you'll have to deal with crossing traffic lanes so i usually just use the crosswalk) and going under the 57 immediately after is also interesting since there is very little room for bikes forcing you to use the sidewalk untill you make it through the underpass.

Either way, Tri-City Park on Kramer makes for a very nice rest stop with a restroom. :D

In HB, stay off Warner. Take Slater/Sergestrom. Its got a bike lane and not nearly as many cars. I used to live in HB about a month ago and always stayed away from Warner. Be safe and have fun

SART to Tustin Ave left. Tustin turns into Rose Dr to Valencia rt, Carbon Canyon Rd rt. Nice rolly-ish climb all the way to CC. Minimal traffic and wide shoulder past La Palma.

I would say ride SART to the end, then cut through Chino to Chino Hills. There's not much traffic at all through there. I forgot what streets I used, but if you look at a map you can figure it out.

Thanks! If I recall the Kramer SART location has that purple colored (I think its purple) Hotel or buliding next to it? From HB, Kramer should be just east of the Pond, correct. Also, I recall street signs being visable as you ride SART (it has been close to a year since I've do it).

Kraemer is about 2 miles east (I thought it was north) of the Pond. Also Kraemer has a firly new underpass. Redone so it's VERY wide with plenty of shoulder on under the pass. Easy to recognize.

The big hotel was just repainted a few months ago. I think it's a real ugly mustard yellow color now.:D

Got it! I knew it was some very odd (not necessarily in a bad way) color....(stands out like that Monday morning zit that looks like a third eye), could not remember though.

It probably is North. To me the beach is always west and anyplace inland (CH) just feels east to me:D
