Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. well i have been surfing the net for hours and im having a hard time finding good details in bypassing the controller in a 24volt kollmorgan 400 watt motor.
if you have a good link please post it. wire colors etc it would help. if not im sure ill figure it out and ill post it here with good details.
here are the parts ordered so far
2-24v 400 Watt Kollmorgan one to blow up if needed :) im using the controller from my white 40volt e-bike
50-of 24# chain
1-8mm sprocket
1-rear freewheel sprocket not to sure about the gear ratio. it should work.
from what i got so far do you see a problem with these parts not working for the izip?

i have seen pics to reverse that motor but not the controller karma i would think it be easier to get one of them super bmc 750 watt some of them have what you need
no im trying to do it on a budget. removing the apoxy is easy.removing the controller is easy.
adding leads for the motor phases is easy. its the hall sensors im going to have a problem with. its a cheap motor so i can pull apart one to see the layout of the wiring. with a external controller these motors
work well over 25volt.
here are links to the motors being tested without any changes.

Are you on endless sphere? There's a lot of info on Kolls there. What size wheel are you going to use? That will likely determine if the sprockets you picked out will work well or not.
no im still working on the motor, i would imagine it will need to be big and custom made to work with this motor.
or i can go with gear setup. i also post on the endless sphere. this mod was posted there way before i did it, thats where i got the idea ;)

I think you can get off the shelf 90 tooth sprockets. That might work. I've got one I think is 90t that I want to use with a 48v koll. I haven't done the rpm math for a while, but IIRC even a 12/90 setup wont be ideal for a larger diameter tire, maybe perfect for a bmx size rear tire though.
Nice vids, that koll really screams at 48v. I wonder how that effects the life span of the motor. I know the guys who have destruction tested them say 48v is right around the limit of what the magnet can take. But I'm thinking of the bearings too.
