General Cycling Discussion - Gold Coast ride to work day

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This probably should go in the commuting section, but I wanted it to get more attention. Ladies and gentlemen, Wednesday October 10 is ride to work day on the Gold Coast. There's a free breakfast at Broadbeach Mall at 7am that day (if you actually ride).
This is just in case anybody from this part of the world happens to cruise by this site in the next few days.
YEH!
Its like that here in U.K we often have a specific day for something or other.
Thursday for instance was set aside as "National poetry day"
Then we have( inevatable) no smoking day.
Leave the car at home day! (that one goes down like a lead balloon)
If memory services me right there was a recent "national cycle day"
Hardly anyone takes a blind bit of notice of these days though!
P.S Who is coughing up for the free breakfasts!,
can`t see anyone in U.K. doing that.

Hi Chris,
We in NSW had Ride to Work day on Sept 26. In my town- Wollongong, our state roads authority- the RTA, along with the City Council sponsored the day.
Also a cooked breakfast was supplied by our largest hotel- the Northbeach Novotel.
A public thanks to all those!
This day is a regular one, with all the above sponsors.
This year free T-shirts were also given away, plus a small 'blinky' light!!
Well done to all.
:D

We've got a few sponsors, some of the coffee shops in Broadbeach Mall and The Oasis (a nearby shopping centre). A little bit of free publicity goes a long way :D . BTW, you can also win a bike (I forgot to mention that).
This is actually the third year we've done it. it p*ssed down rain last year, but we went ahead anyway, and actually got quite a turnout, so if it doesn't do the same this year, it should go really well.

In my dreams, I am looking for the "Drive Your Car to Work Day."
The other 364 days are for bicycling. :D
