Classic & Vintage - This maybe a silly question: campy headsets

What is the difference in a campy pista headset and the road headset. Lets say they are both 1" headsets and they are from the early 80's. Are the bearings in a pista loose bearing and what is their different far as actual usage. I am building up a vintage track frame and just curious of the difference.

Thanks,
Gregg

The Record Pista headset from that era has a lower stack height than the Strada (road). It's also a different shape. Either will be a fine choice for a 70's or 80's track frame, but the Pista is going to cost a lot more.

Pista headsets have a lower stack height than the strada model
the pista is a 33.8 stack height and the strada models NR 39.1 SR 42.2
(except Gran Sport is also 33.8).
Pista and GS use 5/32 ball bearings and NR/SR use 3/16 ball bearings (I think that's correct).
You can use either loose or caged bearings on both.
