I need some input from you folks so that I can decide if I want to be pissed at the batteryspace.com people.

I ordered a 14.4V 5AH battery pack from them a while back, and while shopping their site, I saw that they had two choices for chargers. One charger was a .9A slow charger and the other was a 1.8A fast charger. Both with smart circuitry. Since the fast charger would give me faster turnarounds in the event that I need them, I paid an extra $10 for the fast charger. Got it... works fine.

Now for the question:
I was futzing around with the charger last night, and I noticed a small switch on the side... labeled .9 and 1.8!

Now I wonder if they are selling the same charger in both cases. Would I have gotten the same charger if I'd saved my $10 by getting the slow charger? Can someone who bought the slow charger tell me if their charger came with this switch?

If these people are selling their merchandise this way, then it shows a lack of integrity. If they can afford to sell it for less, but rip people because they can... it's kind of bogus. Charging two different prices for the same hardware?

On the other hand... I got what I paid for. I guess I can't really complain... *sigh*

hmmm - may be just an "added feature" on the fast charger: the ability to charge slow, too.

but like you said, regardless, you got what you ordered & paid for, so be happy :)

I have their products to be OK quality. I had 2 water bottle batteries die before i thought they should, but otherwise their cells, charges, etc seem decent quality.

cheers

Some fast chargers come with a soft charge capability, meaning a slower charge to preserve battery life since 1.8A may be kind of harsh on the battery. I really doubt that they are charging two different prices for the same charger. On the one hand they make some more off the 1.8A price, but on the other hand they'll lose money on the .9A side.

I would say you actually got more than your money's worth since you got both a .9A and 1.8A charger in one.

Yes, the 1.8A charger is dual-mode. The 0.9A charger is not. Everything's cool. ;)

Are there other suppliers besides batteryspace?

You should either learn to do more initial investigation or learn not to investigate after the fact.

$10 isn't enough to be mad about anyways... I was mainly just curious.

I'm a pretty independent type of guy, so I wasn't actually looking for someone to tell me whether or not to be angry about it. I rarely get pissed off, so I save those moods for when it really counts! ;)
