I will be hitting 1,000 miles for the first time this season. This is my third season of riding on the road. How far have you gone this year and what do you want to hit next year (I'm looking to hit 1,250miles)?

My computer says 2716.5 km (1688 miles). I had a bit less than 200 km on my old computer this season before it went in the washing machine. To give you an idea of how my season is... on my old computer I had 2537 km, add 2000km (and I'm generous) for the time I didn't have a computer and that is what I did since I got my bike 5 years ago! To be fair though, I didn't ride my bike for two years. I should be able to do 4000 km this year but I'd like to beat my first four years in a single season.
Reading BF helps for a good kick in the butt! :)
I've ridden around 1200 miles so far this year. I bought my first road bike in may, It has been almost 4 months. I think i'm doing good so far, but next year I hope to be getting a lot more miles!!!!!!!!

2000 miles on the road bike, plus however many on the mtn bike with no puter. I'm guessing around 1000 miles on the mtn bike, does that count as miles?

I had a slow spring, but I've got around 2300 miles so far. Went out by myself and rode another fifty this afternoon after work. Should have stopped for a Guiness!
Jim
I'm pretty much where Mtn Mike is except I have more exact figures. 2583 miles on the MTB and 762 miles on the MTB (I've been sorta neglecting the MTB lately). I generally rack up more miles on my MTB in the winter/wet seasons so I should be bumping into 4K-miles by the end of the year.

I have no idea how ya'll find the time to put in so many miles and still be chatting on forums...
It is nice to see we are out there putting in the miles though.:D
Oh...and yes Mtn Bike miles do count (in fact I think you should be able to count them as 1 MTN bike mile = 1.25 road miles, but that's my opinion and I don't want to side track the thread with that statement).
Well... I average (over the course of a year) around 150 miles a week which isn't a lot. Even with that, I can eek out close to 6000 miles a year if I ride year-round. As it turns out I manage to get in about 10 months of riding out of a year.

Only about 2500 miles so far in 2003, mostly commuting. In 2002 I did about 5500, so I need to get on the stick.
RichC
My first year of riding, I did 4200 miles (I rode a comfort bike and then switched to my first road bike). On my road bike, since January 1, I've gone 4600 miles and plan to at least reach 6000 for the year.
I do get to ride year round (Hawaii is home!)

I started riding mtn bikes earlier this year and road bikes very recently, but I do show I've logged over 1200 miles since June. In August I did over 500 miles. I've picked up the pace since I switched to my road bike. Hoping to go over 5000 miles in '04 :D
I have over 7,000 miles right now.

Well I've had a bike (the headset's the only original component) for two years this October and have done over 4000 miles. This years been a fair bit lower than last year due to various problems...

I'm approaching 12,000km since the end of February. I have no idea how much I did before then, but I think 3,500km over the first two months of the year is a reasonable estimate - although I need to take my illness in February into account. I'd say around 14,500 - 15,000km for the year so far.

Ive done about 3,700Mi this year @ 6000kms (rough estimate) but I really should of put in 7000/8000km by now...blah should be doing 300kms a week.

Sanity is overrated.
My commute amounts to 35 miles a week, so I'm pretty well guaranteed to get in over a thousand miles, even if I slack off some weeks. With road riding pushing the numbers up I suspect I cast my vote lower than I've actually clocked (I guessed 1000 to 1500). I just hooked up cyclocomputers to both bikes I regularly use, so I suspect that by this time next year I can provide a more accurate mileage.
This year I have clocked some 4600 miles (ca. 7500 km) by regularl commuting, longer club rides and incidental cycloturistic excursions (Fleche Walonne, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, etc.). The target is ca. 6800 miles (ca. 11000 km). Hopefully autumn and winter will cooperate...

Passed 1,000 this weekend with the completion of my first metric century. I expect I'll finish the season with 1750 or so depending on the weather.

So far a little over 1100 miles on our tandem. My husband has over 700 on his road bike in addition to the tandem miles. He's shooting for 2000 combined miles this year. I don't have a road bike so all my miles are on the tandem. We probably only have another month of good riding weather before it gets too cold to be any fun, so we're riding as much as we can. It's a fairly short season of good riding weather in Maine. Wish the season was longer. At least most of the tourists are gone now!

Over labor day weekend, I cracked 4000 miles for the year, my goal this year is 6000, and next year will be to break that mark by at least a mile....We'll see, but I'm really hoping this year to beat last year's goal of 5500..

haven't check the odometers, but i estimate i have about 4500km commuting and about 4000km rec riding (mostly MTB with a little road)
= 8500km = 5300 miles! for 2003!
in 2002 i had 10,000km or 6,200 miles... will probably pass that this year!
(hey, not having a car has it's benefits!)
oh yeah for my offroad vertical since i ride UP rather than lots of distance: last year i rode 65,000 meters vertical (214,500 ft)
and i estimate i've ridden about 50,000m for 2003 (165,000ft) - should get close to 75,000m for 2003!!
Closing on 2100 since March. If I can get the miles in to finish the virtual Tour DAY France, I should be near 3500 when all is said and done.

Ok, ok, so I did not add enough distance options to the poll (for all you hard core riders out there). Had I known I was such a low mile rider, I would have remade the poll in 1,000s instead. You people amaze me!
I thought I was doing fairly well to get in my first 1,000 mile year. Oh well next year i will do much better. I plan on doing at least two or three times the organized rides i did this year. I find solo riding kinda dull.
Here's to you!
I bought my bike in mid-January, and I am at about 1,300 miles.

If I were to hazard a guess I would say I am just over 1000miles right now. All single track, no road or xc :) Probably since mid april with a 2 week vacation in between.
11,987 since Jan 1, 2003, target for the year 15,000 miles.

wow mrfix! that's just over DOUBLE my miles and i thought i ride a lot - ok, most of my riding is REALLY mountainous so if i rode road instead i'd have more miles, but still not nearly that many...
that's an AVERAGE of 50 miles per DAY! wow! and if i remeber right you ride most of the time "loaded"...

As of Sept. 8, I have gone 1,046 miles since Jan. 1. I was hoping to do 2,000 thisw year, but it doesn't look likely. By the way, if you want a good road biking area, go to the North Carolina Outer Banks. There's a flat road that runs the length of the peninsula, with wide bike lanes on both sides. I did 135 miles in four days on this road. On one particular day, I was going south at a 18-19 mph clip for about 15 miles. Then I turned around, and the trip north yielded only 12-13 mph due to the wind. I didn't notice the tail wind going south -- I thought my speed was due to my superior leg power. But coming north, I realized the tail wind was giving me 4-5 mph I didn't deserve.

I have about 3500 miles. Year round riding season helps a lot. Most of that is commuting (at least 100 miles a week just getting to work usually). I am also hoping for 6000 for the year.

I have over 2300 miles so far. I should make it to over 3500.
Next year if I commute every day instead of 3 or 4 times a week
I should go way over that.

mrfix, you're amazing!! that is incredible 15,000 miles for the year!! man that's great!! keep it up..
And nathank you're pretty good in my eyes also, I see why you say like I say also about mrfix, but when I first came to your response, I was like, WHOWW man that's a lot of miles, but then I read mrfix's and I said the same thing over again with more emphasis and amazement!!..
Both of you are just great!!

Lol, I had a wind blow me 45 miles north over the weekend, and I didn't question it one bit. I take what I can get!:D
Oh, and I 'm at 995 miles today, and I will hit my goal of 1,000 miles tomorrow. The rest of the season is icing.

My wife and I have had our tandem for less than 3 weeks. We now have 225 miles on it and have set a goal of 2000 minimum per year. I think we will be closer to 3000, depending on weather.

Roughly 125 miles/week in commute and then fun miles of about 100 per week. Since May.
I even dropped 30lbs...back to fighting weight! (My friggin job gives out free bagels...and I rarely said NO). I'll kick any bagel or free, fatty breakfast food's ass! Bring it on, Cap'n Crunch!

Last year I had around 2400 miles, This year only 700 & I had the majority of my miles in by Feb.
There is always next year!
I just cracked 1900m on my bike computer (which I got a week after I got my new bike in early march) add in that week of commuting w/o the computer, about 50m plus the 60 I put on the old bike in the "pre season" and I am over 2000m for the year, which had been my goal. I did 1000-1100 the year before. Not too hard to assume 2500+ for the year, but I'll save that for the inevitable Jan 1st poll ;)
