was looking into getting one of these. I've read some posts from others riders about the fluid leaking out of them, anyone experiencing this? And if so, how is the customer service? It says theres a lifetime warranty on it, anyone have to deal with them?

and just a quick question, does a trainer put any unusual stress on your bike/frame? it seems like the way you mount it would for some reason... just my thoughts

- have had my Trek-branded cycleops fluid 2 for several years... no leakage problems whatsoever, and the unit works great! (nice and quiet)...

- if you've never used a trainer though, be sure to get a nice fan and position it in your workout area for maximum cooling (simulate riding conditions)...

- just adjust the pressure on the rear hub (i.e., don't crack your skewer)... the unit comes with a replacement trainer skewer, but i've never used it... i use my steel-frame ride on the trainer...

- the biggest problems seem to arise with wear on the rear tire... you can buy a 'trainer' tire for use on a spare rear wheel, but again, i've never worried about it...

I hate my Fluid2. It works too well.

I love (I mean hate) my Cycle-Ops Fluid 2 trainer. I love it because I can still ride my bike when I'm short on time or if the weather sucks outside. I hate it it because it can sometimes be difficult for me to stay on it over an hour and ten minutes or so (it can be quite boring and it hurts my @ss). I much prefer to ride outside for 3-4 hours but I prefer hot weather to cold (if we're talking extremes) so the trainer is awesome because you can ride it at any hour of the day in any kind of weather. Mine has never had a single problem and I have around 30 hours on it. :)

I have a Fluid 2 that I bought a couple of months ago and I have already sent the power unit back for an exchange. When I first started using it, it was quiet (or, at least, as quiet as I expected it to be) but it developed a "tick" on each revolution and was pretty annoying. The replacement power unit has an intermittent noise that, if happens more often, will result in my returning the whole trainer for a refund. I use the skewer that was provided with the trainer because it has the lever on the side, rather than over the center, like my good skewer. However, the drop-outs on my bike are recessed - so the trainer has the potential of damaging the paint. Other than that, I like it just fine.

^^^swc, are you sure it was not debris in the tire, or a tear/gash? I had one (gash) last year and the sound drove me nuts because I thought it was the trainer, then I took a closer look...

The noise was there with 3 different bikes. And the "tick" occurred for each revolution of the trainer's power unit, not the bicycle wheel. The new unit seems to have calmed down and didn't make any unusual noises during the hour that I used it last night. No fluid leaks so far, but I've only had it for less than thee months.

I have used this trainer for 3 years now and its great, no problems at all. Before I bought mine I heard about leakage but I think this was for earlier models that were bad. I find that having a few training tapes make the time sort of fly by.

I'm living in Korea now and needed a trainer this year. There wasn't a big selection to choose from, and I was a little concerned about getting a Fluid 2 based on internet reviews saying it leaks...creaks...makes loud noises....

Well, I bought mine in February to do my workouts on it before I go to work in the morning. It's been great. Compared to my other trainer back home(Performance Fluid), it has much more resistance. So it better stimulates hills and windy conditions. And it's held up very well to this point.

Hi, i had mine for 4 + years and never a problem ,i use it mid nov. to end feb.10/12hrs a week and 2hrs to 3hrs a week the rest of the year ,yes i use it a lot :p.
