Mountain Biking - Giant Yukon

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello all! I am a novice MTBer with maybe 20 rides under my belt. I have been riding a converted comfort bike so far but I am wanting to move up to a little better bike. My LBS has a 2007 Giant Yukon that he will sell me for $400. That is about what I currently have budgeted to spend. It has decent components (Deore front and rear, 8 speed Rapidfire shifters, Hayes mechanical disc brakes). I know very little about the bike in terms of its reputation or performance. I ride trails in Indiana, nothing extreme and no real jumps. I am around 200 pounds. Is this a decent bike for the $ ?
No real problems with mine yet.
My mum has an 06 model - shimano cable disks and a different frame to that model. I've spent a bit of time on it both on and off road and it's a sturdy, good value package.
